Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director of Technology to achieve the goals of the Technology Department

  • Configure the Mobile Device Manager for the school, supporting and troubleshooting for both faculty, staff and students

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technology issues regarding networks, email, phones, computers, smartboards, AppleTVs, projectors, and copiers

  • Troubleshoot software issues

  • Maintain and administer school IT systems including email, applications, and data servers, switches, routers, firewalls, and other systems.

  • Configure faculty and student iPads, manage iPad applications

  • Back-end management of subscription based services (e.g., Seesaw, IXL, Turnitin, etc.)

  • Proactively support and maintain the performance , security, and stability of school-wide systems including wired and wireless web interfaces, servers, phones, faculty and staff workstations, printers, and copiers

  • Administer Systems and data backup/recovery.

  • Assist with development/maintenance of disaster recovery and business continuity planning and cybersecurity oversight

  • Participate in the identification, review, and implementation of new IT technologies and services

  • Keep abreast of emerging technical and professional developments affecting local area networks and recommend improvements

  • Provide technology support for all members of the school community including faculty, staff, and students

  • Actively maintain and update the school’s inventory of technology assets

  • Support and advance the mission of Oak Hall School

  • Be a role model of integrity and professionalism

  • Work positively and professionally with all constituencies of the school 

  • Meet regular and predictable attendance requirements, including school meetings, professional days, graduation, and other required events

  • Adhere to School policies as described in the Employee Handbook and other materials

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a computer science field, preferred

  • Strong preference for previous experience within a K-12 school environment

  • Up-to-date proficiency with Windows 10, MacOS, Apple IOS, and Microsoft Office 365 Suite 

  • Recent experience with the complete Mac and Windows suites of devices, operating systems, and installed software, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems 

  • Experience with Active Directory and basic file server management 

  • Ipad configuration and and App management experience 

  • Experience with the use of technology within an educational setting is preferred

  • Experience with Canvas LMS is preferred

  • Must possess the people skills necessary to work effectively with all members of a diverse school community who possess varying degrees of technology skills and abilities

  • Certifications associated with IT systems support and networking are desirable but not required (e.g., CompTIA A+, Apple Certifications such as ACiT or ACMT)

  • A keen understanding of how hardware components and software components work together

  • Experience with hardware builds, OS installs, configurations, patching, and maintenance 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Possess an eagerness to stay current with developments in technology and a desire to learn new platforms

  • Demonstrated facilitative skills

  • A high degree of professionalism, collegiality, and personal conduct, both in and outside of school

  • Ability, willingness, and judgment to communicate thoroughly, accurately, and concisely with all constituents in the school community, both verbally and in writing

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Works in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts

  • Regularly uses close and distance vision

  • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time

  • Ability to actively circulate throughout the diverse campus environment

  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, and reach

  • Ability to use hands and fingers to grasp, move, and manipulate small objects 

  • Ability to crawl under desks and climb ladders

  • Works primarily in a traditional climate controlled environment

  • Work intermittently in attics, or outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

  • Ability to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
