POSITION SUMMARY:
Westmark School is currently seeking a Technology Support Specialist. Our ideal candidate will be an experienced technology professional familiar with educational environments and will be charged with ensuring proper operation of hardware and software, including iPads, computers, laptops, printers and SMART Boards, as well as implementing systems to enhance the organization’s mission.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as primary support contact for staff, faculty, and students

  • Participate in the day-to-day operations of all aspects of the school’s technological systems

  • Perform hands-on fixes, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups and configuring systems and application; test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved

  • Identify, diagnose and resolve issues in a timely and effective manner; analyze trends and performance and provide maintenance to prevent future problems on all school systems 

  • Assist with management of the school’s 1:1 iPad program

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install apps on iPads and its accessories

  • Maintain excellent communication with all end users and other members of the Technology department 

  • Coordinate installation and configuration of hardware, software and peripherals 

  • Prepare and maintain documentation of system configurations 

  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the school

  • Administer user accounts and contact lists for all school systems 

  • Coordinate setup, and operate (as needed), audio and video equipment for day and evening events 

  • Maintain hardware and software inventory 

  • Research and evaluate new technologies and software and stay abreast of emerging trends 

  • Provide assistance with PowerPoint to presenters on key presentations to the Board of Trustees and board committees

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience

  • Desktop administration experience 

  • Helpdesk experience or remote phone support

  • Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting iPads, desktops/laptops, hardware, standard desktop software, antivirus, patch management

  • Knowledge of SMART Board and all of its features

  • Experience with Mac and Windows OS

  • Experience with GoogleApps

  • Proficient in MS Office suite, especially PowerPoint

  • Team player

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain technical issues in plain English to faculty, staff and students

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

  • Project management experience a plus

  • Must be able to interact effectively, in person or remotely, with all users having varying levels of technology expertise
