The Technology Support Specialist (TSS) delivers the front-line IT Service Center support to LFCDS employees, students, and other stakeholders providing back-up support as needed. The TSS coordinates the technology help desk, answers service-center phone calls, and responds to support emails as well as in-person requests. The TSS will work to resolve and document incidents and problems and  will ask for help when needed. The TSS holds primary responsibility for the configuration, maintenance, and repair of end-user workstations and also shares responsibility for the administration and maintenance of assigned systems within the School's information and instructional technology infrastructure. This includes Local Area Network, Internet connection, network servers, the telephone system, and a variety of instructional systems and enterprise applications.

 

The individual in this position will work closely with the Director of Information Technology and the IT Systems Manager to provide technological support for students, faculty, and administration. The Technology Support Specialist reports to the Director of Information Technology.

 

Responsibilities

  • Basic knowledge of networking, VoIP, imaging 

  • Maintain the help desk ticket load

  • Ability to provide training to small /medium groups, both student and teacher on technical use of software

  • Basic knowledge of server administration, especially Microsoft Windows Server and VMWare ESX

  • Advanced knowledge of PC hardware and troubleshooting

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows 10 software and troubleshooting

  • Basic knowledge of Internet technologies including HTML and CSS

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 2016 software suite

  • Ability to learn new software applications quickly

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Ability to interact with users in a professional and courteous manner

  • Ability to interact with elementary- and middle-school-aged children

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Audio Visual System troubleshooting and support

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or Associate’s degree in information technology-related major)

 

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information technology-related major

CompTIA A+ Certification and other certifications

2 years of full-time equivalent work experience in user and/or workstation support

 

Job Details

The TSS is a full-time, 12-month, salaried position, working 40 hours/week during the school year, 32.5 hours/week during the summer.
