Technology Support Specialist
Classification: Exempt
Purpose: As a Sacred Heart Educator the primary purpose of the Technology Support Specialist is helping ensure the smooth operation of the school’s technology program supporting over 1300 student, teacher and staff users within a collaborative department of 12 technical and academic employees. Much of this work will include: supporting the school’s 1:1 device program in grades 3-12 (iPad specific in grades 3-8 and BYOD in grades 9-12); assisting - and often leading the various steps from processing new devices to dissemination to end-users; providing end-user help desk support for students, teachers, staff and administration, including the creation of online support directions, tutorials, and documentation; maintaining accurate data of inventory collection and historical records of client systems; documenting the procedures for tech support and new installs; and lead and assist – where appropriate – with the day to day functioning of the department and with the implementation of technology related programs that further the growth of the school program.

Responsibilities include:
Act as the initial tech support point person with responsibility for initial prioritization, troubleshooting, resolution, escalation, and timely response to end user requests and issues
Setup, distribute and support new hardware, software and network services, including iPads, laptops, desktops, client peripherals, and classroom multimedia systems, including printers and audio-visual projection/display systems
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair when possible a host of equipment, peripherals, software and iOS apps
Support users with Google Apps for Education and other network services
Facilitate repairs with 3rd party vendors
Facilitate work with student volunteers and student employees engaged in providing support
Maintain equipment checkout system, including loaner equipment, cameras, audio systems, and other peripherals
Contribute to virtual support resources for end users, such as FAQs and instructions for common support requests as well as internal documentation of procedures
Help maintain databases of hardware inventory, hardware maintenance and software installation
Support teacher and student implementation of technology projects both in and out of class when appropriate
Provide multimedia set-up for special events
Assist in arranging for donation, sale or recycling of older hardware
Assist in network connection problems
Assist with faculty laptop and student 1:1 device program including:
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair software and hardware issues including Mac OS, Apple iOS and other systems in use
Assist with faculty and staff professional development
Assist with formal and informal training of knowledge and use of digital tools
Coordinate communications with parents about procedures including completion of policy agreements, and repair and/or replacement of equipment
Coordinate equipment return process for departing students, faculty and staff
Attend regular technology department meetings
Maintain currency through constant reading and research, and attend conferences, workshops, and classes when appropriate
Maintain professional contacts with other schools and organizations
Support technology services in general including new projects as needs arise
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree required
2-3 years of educational technology experience or similar
2-3 years experience working with school-age children, preferably in a school environment
Excellent communicator via both oral and written language with strong grammar skills
Highly proficient with Apple systems, including both Mac OS and iOS, and Google Apps for Education
Detail-oriented, organized and willing to take initiative
Able to work well in a fast-paced, rapid change environment filled with frequent interruptions
Excellent collaborative teamwork skills
Ability to work well with all ages of children and adults
Experience with independent schools preferred
Passion/experience in at least one area of technical productivity (graphics, audio, video, photography, robotics, coding, etc)
Experience with Windows OS helpful but not required
Experience with Adobe products helpful but not required

Pay Period: July 1 through June 30 (start date negotiable)
Service Period: July 1 through June 30. This is a 12-month position.
