Technology Support Specialist

Trinity is seeking applicants for a full-time technology support specialist supporting administrative and instructional technology as part of the school’s technology help desk. Trinity Preparatory School is fully networked, with wired and wireless connectivity to support 1200+ devices and 1000 users. The infrastructure is comprised of Windows servers in a largely virtualized environment. Instructional areas are equipped with Lenovo laptops, Apple devices, interactive projectors, sound systems, and other audio visual equipment to facilitate 21st century learning. Students in grades 7-12 are required to use a laptop. Three instructional computer labs, two high definition teleconference spaces, several mobile wireless laptop carts, iPads; and various other devices are available to faculty and students. We are a Google Apps for Education school, making extensive use of the suite of products as well as Canvas as the learning management system.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Performing computer and/or laptop system analysis and subsequently arranging for the repair, installation, upgrade, or further system troubleshooting and/or network account administration necessitated by each situation.
- Building, maintaining, and deploying a variety of master disk images in support of the maintenance of computers and installation of hardware and software when necessary.
- Closely monitoring and following up on open and pending issues, discussing issues which are deemed of high urgent technological nature with the appropriate members of the technology team.
- Responsibility for managing and delegating issues deemed appropriate to student interns, assistants, or other members of the technology department.
- Responsibility for maintaining an up-to-date inventory of the School’s technology assets, utilizing the existing inventory tracking database.
- Troubleshooting and providing support to faculty and students for various online educational resources and applications.
- Responsibility for arranging routine meetings with the other members of the department to apprise them of the status of help desk issues and to proactively collaborate regarding open and pending issues.
- Providing technical support for the Malone Schools Online Consortium (MSON) online learning program, including the technical support of audio-visual equipment and other technical requirements of the immersive technology center (may require working after normal school hours and in the evenings)
- Completing tasks/projects as assigned or requested by the network administrator or director of technology.
- Working collaboratively as part of a team and with a variety of hardware and software vendors, including printers, copiers, and manufacturer warranty repair technicians.
- Conducting research to stay current with evolving technology.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or in a related field with a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position. Exceptional interpersonal and oral and written communication skills. Level 2 technical troubleshooting experience and proficiency in the use of issue and asset-tracking databases. Google Apps, Network +, and/or A+ certifications are preferred, and a strong understanding of entry-level networking is essential. Experience in a school setting is a plus.
