Porter-Gaud School is searching for a Technology Support Specialist for a full-time, 12-month position with the school. The position must be filled by July 1, 2018 but may begin as early as June 1, 2018, depending on candidate availability.

Porter-Gaud School is an Episcopal, independent, coeducational day school with 975 students in grades 1 -12. Porter-Gaud also includes a pre-school, The O'Quinn Schools of Porter-Gaud, on two separate campuses serving 620 students in 2-year old through 5K programs. Porter-Gaud is searching for a Technology Support Specialist for a full-time, 12-month position with the school. The position must be filled by July 1, 2018 but may begin as early as June 1, 2018, depending on candidate availability.

Responsibilities for this position include:

We are looking for someone who is innovative and team oriented to work in our technology department to support the faculty, staff, administration, and students in advancing their use of technology.

The primary focus of this position will be providing technology support and repair (operating systems, applications, network, iPad, laptops, desktops and classroom AV) for students, faculty, administrators, and staff.

  • Manage, assign, and respond to the incoming requests to the campus helpdesk.
  • Assist in management of technology inventory, including over 900 student devices.
  • Work with department to fully utilize the schools Jamf Pro Mobile Device Management (MDM) system to manage Apple devices.
  • Assist IT Director with management of school databases including Blackbaud's Education Edge.
  • Ensure that the faculty and staff have a thorough understanding of the technology tools available to them through training and other methods.
  • Work with department to proactively monitor classroom and meeting space AV installations to ensure optimum efficiency.
  • Help evaluate emerging technologies and their relevance to each department.
  • Assume other duties as necessary and assigned by the IT Director.

Requirements for this position:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university
  • 1 – 3 years' experience, preferably in an academic environment
  • Strong technical skills
  • Strong understanding of Apple and Windows computing products
  • Ability to work well in a group or team environment
  • An understanding of computer networks and security
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • An understanding of databases, preferably school databases
  • Strong understanding of G Suite and other Google products
  • Good work ethic and positive attitude, with the ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality with sensitive school and student data

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
