TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT SPECIALIST  I

 

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

The Technology Support Specialist reports to the Director of Information and Innovation and is an essential member of the Technology Support Team. This individual is the initial point of contact and front-line support person for faculty, staff, administrators.  Roland Park Country School is a college preparatory school for girls. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Answer all forms of inquiries including in-person requests for assistance from students, faculty and staff experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies. Escalate issues as necessary to the Network Administrator or to the Director of Information and Innovation. 

 

  • Log and track each request for service using problem management database, and maintains history records of related problem documentation. 

 

  • Maintain an inventory of all faculty, staff and administration workstation hardware and peripherals.  

 

  • Call hardware vendors to request service regarding problems with hardware in need of repair. 

 

  • Coordinate with hardware vendors all paperwork related to hardware repairs. 

 

  • Works in a collaborative way with all members of the Tech Team. 

 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum qualifications for the position include a high school education and experience working in a school environment.  This individual must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to relay technical information to, the layperson, are essential.   Experience with the following is highly preferred;

 

Apple Devices

Wired and Wireless Networks

Windows Server 2012

Office 365

Classroom related hardware

 

PHYSIAL EFFORT REQUIRED: 

May be required to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
