Capitol Hill Day School, a PreK-Grade 8 independent school in southeast Washington, DC, seeks a part-time Technology Support Specialist.  The position will require a commitment of 25-30 hours per week and offers the benefit of being able to set your schedule between normal school hours of 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.  This is a 12-month staff position.

 

The Technology Support Specialist provides front-line IT support to faculty, staff, and students and works closely with our third party IT outsource partner to maintain and manage the School’s technology infrastructure.  The position will also support the audio-visual (A/V) needs of the School, manage our student BYOD program, and maintain inventory of the School’s technology assets. The position will also involve collaboration with faculty to proactively identify trends in technology that will enhance the learning experience for students.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective support to faculty, staff, and students related to end-user technology needs.  Utilize the ticketing system to track and manage end user requests, escalating to our network and server team as needed.  Responsibilities includes client hardware support, user software fluency, A/V and classroom technology support including interactive whiteboards.
  • Perform basic Windows system administration functions such as password reset and account management.
  • Provide front line support for print and copier issues.
  • Provide level 1 support for issues and maintenance of the School’s network in cooperation with the School’s third party IT partner, generally being the remote hands for network triage. 
  • Maintain inventory for the School’s technology assets, using supplied system management tools.
  • Maintain and coordinate the School’s iPad and BYOD programs including updating procedures and working with students and families.
  • Provide or identify training for end users on commonly used classroom hardware and/or end user software.
  • Collaborate with faculty to proactively identify trends in technology that support the School’s mission and enhance the learning environment.  Develop and implement a process to review and approve new classroom technology requirements.

 

Qualifications

  • College graduate in a related field with work experience in an educational setting.
  • Proven ability to work with elementary and middle school students.
  • Possess IT fluency capable of handling basic end-user tickets for things ranging from Google apps to font installations to bulb replacements on a projector.  Familiarity in an Apply environment is also a plus.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, strong customer services skills, and a sense of humor.
