Essential Job Duties

This position maintains and provides responsive, advanced support for a variety of technology-enabled spaces at the NCSU Libraries. This work includes providing end user support for activities in the spaces, consulting with users and Libraries staff on available functionality, and troubleshooting complex, non-routine problems by independently resolving them or escalating to others. As needed, this position provides support for supplemental audiovisual infrastructure for events, which may include assisting with setup and/or configuration of audio and recording systems and display technologies. This position also develops training and documentation on the capabilities of the advanced technology spaces to help users receive maximum benefit from the available technology.

This position collaborates with other IT staff to support multiple high tech visualization spaces and large-scale video walls, several public event spaces, and numerous staff meeting rooms and collaborative group study rooms at both the James B. Hunt Jr. Library on Centennial Campus and the D. H. Hill Library on Central Campus. This position’s portfolio addresses a broad range of audiovisual technology infrastructure, ranging from audio systems, video processing, AV switching, and room control to underlying computing and front-end projections and displays.

Other Work/Responsibilities  
Minimum Experience/Education

Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment; or bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment; or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Departmental Required Skills

- Knowledge of and experience with a variety of audiovisual technologies, such as projection and display technologies, AV switching and routing, AV room control, audio systems, microphones, video processing, audio mixers, lighting, video cameras, and content capture tools. 
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, particularly AV design drawings. 
- Experience configuring and/or troubleshooting complex AV systems. 
- Ability to consult with both technical and non-technical clients to develop effective solutions.
- Excellent customer service and problem solving skills. 
- Ability to learn new technologies as they relate to academic library technology spaces.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

- Current CTS or CTS-I certification.
- Experience with programming and support of room control systems, such as Extron, Crestron, or AMX.
- Experience configuring and/or troubleshooting end user computing and software. 
- Working knowledge of networking protocols and standards. 
- Experience configuring and utilizing room management systems, such as Extron’s GlobalViewer or AMX’s Resource Management Suite (RMS). 
- Experience providing technology training for a variety of audiences.
- Very good written communication skills.
- Experience supporting faculty, staff, and students in a higher education environment.
