Technology Teacher
Job Summary: The Jupiter Christian School Teacher must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the mission and philosophy of Jupiter Christian School and is committed to help see it become a reality in the lives of our students by manifesting, by precept and example, the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school (Luke 6:40), and as an example to parents and fellow employees in judgement, dignity, respect, and Christian living according to the Conditions of Employment outlined in the JCS faculty contract. The teacher must be a born again Christian with spiritual maturity in academic and leadership abilities that will enable him/her to teach God’s truth. The ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are pre-requisites.
I. General Description of Duties and Responsibilities
a. Teach computer and technology skills to students of various grade levels, primarily elementary and middle school. The job includes teaching basic computer usage to elementary students as well as keyboarding, productivity software applications to middle school students.
II. Essential Job Requirements

Knowledge of PC and Apple computer systems that would allow the teacher to answer student questions regarding using either system.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs as well as Google docs and classroom

Ability to teach computer concepts in a clear manner to students of various ages who may have little technical background.

Ability to teach students keyboarding skills that will allow them to increase their typing speed.

Willingness to support the integration of technology into the curricula of other teachers.

Attend after school divisional meetings, all-school meetings, and/or parent conferences as scheduled by administration

Attend division student retreats (if applicable)

Attend select evening school activities (i.e. Parent/Teacher Conferences)

Provide help classes before or after school (2 x’s/week, Upper School faculty)

Serve as a GAP group/Activity period leader and attend all training sessions (Upper School faculty).

JCS “Plus One” principle - JCS expects all faculty members to be involved as either sponsors of or participants in at least one co-curricular, athletic, or student life activity outside of the classroom.

Serve as a member of the Technology and Information Literacy curriculum team.

b. Education

Required: Bachelor of Science degree in Technology Education, Computer Science. A bachelor’s degree in another area may be considered if combined with significant professional experience.
