Technology Teacher
Position Summary:
Develop and implement a technology curriculum that is consistent with the Campus School philosophy, goals and curriculum guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, implement, and document an appropriate technology and computer curriculum for elementary students consistent with the Campus School philosophy, learning goals and curriculum. Consult with an assist supervising teachers and specialists who are utilizing computers and technology for classroom integration and instruction. Develop and teach an elementary-level curriculum that will include coding/programming, robotics, and the design process. Teach a curriculum that introduces students to the norms of responsible technology use.
Communicate with parents about the nature and content of the technology curriculum. Cooperate and consult with Smith College faculty and students who utilize the Campus School for observations, pre-practicum and practicum experiences, class projects, and research, in particular faculty and students working on design projects, educational technology, and introductory engineering courses that utilize the Campus School as a laboratory. Work with the college’s ITS department to keep school hardware and systems current and functional. Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Campus School administration.Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in technology and education (or a comparable combination of experience in computer science or a related field and education); graduate degree strongly preferred; experience working with teachers and students in an elementary school setting required.
Skills: Able to work in networked computer lab; experience with systems; familiar with a variety of educational software including word processing, desktop publishing, multimedia authoring, programming, robotics, design thinking process, and graphic applications. Ability to help with technology troubleshooting.
