Technology Teacher & Integrator

Temple Beth Am Day School in Miami Florida is looking for an extraordinary Technology Teacher and Integrator to continue the school’s path of educational innovation and practice. Primary Function: The Technology Teacher & Integrator coordinates efforts to support and develop the use of technology as a tool to support excellent teaching and learning. S/he works with directly with students, teaches a technology course for grades K-5, and supports co-curricular programs involving the use of multimedia resources. S/he serves as a coach and mentor to assist faculty in implementation and integration.  Minor computer setup, repair, and maintenance is included in this role, primarily in terms of triage. This position has responsibilities that extend beyond the academic year, including the week before teacher work-week and the week after the close of school. The Technology Teacher and Integrator reports to the Technology & Innovation Director and is a member of the Technology Department.

Performance & Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction in the areas of: coding, design practices, Digital Citizenship, essential computer skills, engineering, G-Suite for education, robotics, and related topics.
• Develop and enhance programs that teach students how to be thoughtful and deliberate
• about the role digital technology and social media play in their lives.
• Inspire a culture of innovation to meet the evolving needs of today’s learners.
• Lead the continued development of the technology curriculum using ISTE standards for
• grades K-5.
• Build strong partnerships with faculty and support them as they develop innovative
• approaches and develop units, projects, or other educational technology applications within their curriculum.
• Serve as a thought leader and strategic partner to the Technology & Innovation Director and the Elementary School Director on all uses of technology in the operations and educational mission of the school, especially related to STEM programs.
• Actively participate in local, regional, and national professional communities, technology
• conferences, and educational opportunities to stay knowledgeable about new ideas and
• trends.
• Seek knowledge of current instructional theories and best practices and demonstrate a
• commitment to professional growth by participating in professional development
• opportunities.
• Demonstrated capacity to be collaborative, self-directed, flexible, and organized.
• Provide workshops and training for faculty on educational technology skills and applications.
• Be a consistent presence on campus in locations where technology is being integrated, especially during technology-integrated instruction and other technology-mediated activities.
• Assist in troubleshooting hardware and software problems.

Requirements:

• Ability to master new technologies and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly shifting priorities in both technology and education.
• Willingness to experiment with innovative practices in an educational environment.
• A bachelor’s degree is required, master’s degree is desirable. Teaching experience with specific training in educational technology, computer science, or a combination is required.
• An understanding of appropriate uses of technology in the educational setting, particularly as regards mobile technology in a shared and 1:1 learning environment.
• Proficiency with computers and software, in particular Windows machines, Mac OS, Google Apps, iOS software, and iPad functionality.
• Current knowledge of available and emerging technologies especially as regards mobile computing.
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and as part of a high-performing team with exceptional initiative and judgment.
• Ability to effectively train faculty in technology use.
• Knowledge of pedagogy in the 21st century as it relates to technology.
