Technology Teacher & Support Specialist

Job Summary:
BB&N is seeking a part-time lower school technology teacher and support specialist. Responsibilities include teaching weekly technology classes to grades 3-6 and supporting technology projects in all grades. Additionally, this position manages upkeep of student computers, iPads and chromebooks. This position is 60% (Monday/Wednesday/Friday hours) and works 10 months out of the year. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Additional responsibilities include:
Technology Integration and Teaching
- Teach technology classes for students (grades 4-6), including some coding/programming curriculum and project-based-learning.
- Support teachers in younger grades (B-3) with technology related lessons and projects.
- Manage the delivery of keyboarding classes and assessments to 3rd grade and above.
- Collaborate with teachers to work towards our vision of integrating components of technology, engineering, and design thinking into all disciplines to make learning visible.
- Orient teachers in using new digital systems and software, including new faculty orientation.
- Support teachers in developing and improving class websites for instructional purposes and communication with parents.
- Develop curriculum-aligned benchmarks and assessments for student technology proficiency, and work with teachers to implement them.
Technology Support
- Assist teachers with technology related questions and problems; resolve or escalate these common technology problems to our technical team.
- Assist with audio-visual support needs of campus events including occasional evening events when faculty are expected to participate.
- Manage the upkeep and maintenance of various laptop and iPad carts, technology labs, and peripheral equipment.

Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate should have a strong technology background, knowledge of developmental age groups in upper elementary and in depth understanding of different learning styles.
In addition, the candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Classroom teaching experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience using technology resources in an educational setting.
- Experience collaborating with teachers to integrate technology resources.
- Experience with Mac and iOS operating systems, Google Apps for Education, Haiku, and various software, hardware and peripherals for classroom use.
- Excellent communication skills: written, oral, and listening.
- Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities.
- Collaborative working style, responsible team member, flexible and willing to pitch in to do whatever needs to be done.
