Vice President for Technology
General purpose:
The Vice President (VP) for Technology provides vision, leadership, and direction for the College’s shared information systems and infrastructure including: institution¬ wide strategic planning, budgeting for information technologies, emerging trends, and coordination and integration of all College information technology matters. Reports to the President and serves as a member of the President’s Council.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with senior administration and others to develop, communicate and manage a central strategic plan and portfolio of initiatives that will leverage the current and anticipated information technologies and services which meet the College’s needs ensuring that priorities align with the vision and mission of the College.
• Responsible for the ongoing envisioning of future technology needs and for recommending technology resource strategies, priorities, cyber-infrastructure security efforts and projects that will best achieve the College’s strategic objectives. Coordinate the strategic integration of traditional, new and emerging information resources/systems.
• Identify and implement emerging information technology and telecommunication trends for campus consideration and develop, recommend, and implement appropriate campus positions and plans to address those trends.
• Guide research, analysis, selection and implementation and integration of network, administrative, academic and instructional technologies, applications and services to meet operating needs across the College.
• Oversee long-term information systems strategies to plan for and control network upgrades and growth; evaluates and implements new technologies; encourages innovation among technical staff in the utilization and implementation of ideas and techniques.
• Build partnering relationships with internal and external stakeholders and act as institutional representative in the development of associations and partnerships to support technology-related needs on campus. Direct and manage strategic relationships; negotiate with and educate on issues that have College-wide impact.
• Appraise and evaluate the results of overall operations of computing and information technology functions.
• Establish budget allocations and project priorities.
• Provide an institutional perspective on technology opportunities for new and existing initiatives, programs and processes to align required staff, hardware and software resources appropriately.
• Develop and establish operating policies and approaches for computing and information technology within the College to maximize efficiencies, ensure appropriate execution, maintain compliance/security, and to be consistent with policies and objectives.
• Develop and refine appropriate, comprehensive security program to protect information integrity and privacy. Ensure confidentiality, security, and integrity of all electronic information assets and information technology infrastructure and implementation of campus and system wide security standards.
• Lead, develop and refine technology efforts regarding campus emergency planning and disaster recovery plans.
• Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assess and monitor the distribution of work, support systems, and internal reporting relationship; identify opportunities for improvement; direct the implementation of change.
• Develop and implement policies to ensure integrity of all information services.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of the role of technology in an arts-centered higher education environment. A very high level of understanding of the developing needs of faculty, students and staff to use technology tools, applications and resources to support and develop innovative and state-of-the-art resources for teaching and learning. Knowledge of current trends and realities of administrative and academic systems that support education, business and artmaking.
• Ability to create and implement strategies into day-to-day operations management including experience in aligning resources with strategic goals and priorities. Ability to develop plans, articulate clear goals and direction, and implement action steps in support of the plans and goals. Ability to prepare for future innovation, benefit operations, and identify issues that might impact implementation and ongoing operations.
• Ability to guide the College through a constantly evolving technology environment in a way that is effective and collaborative. Ability to understand the role of digital tools and resources for artmaking and creative enterprises. Ability to lead change (cultural and technical issues) in a distributed information technology environment.
• Ability to manage, plan and forecast fiscal and budget requirements including operational budgets, licensing, vendor contract negotiations; demonstrated evidence in building effective and responsive operational teams.
• Ability to understand the structure, operations, strategic objectives, regulatory issues and cultural environment of academia.
• Skills: Must be flexible, have highly developed managerial skills, provide leadership and be collaborative within a demanding and ever-changing creative environment.
• Skills: Exceptional customer relationship skills, consensus building skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with both technical and non-technical community members. Demonstrated teamwork and ability to effectively balance a broad range of competing interests.
• Skill: Organizing resources and establishing priorities, negotiating and conflict management.
Minimum qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, information management, information technology, computer science, engineering, or related field.
• Experience: Demonstrated successful leadership experience as a senior administrator in the technology field.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in business administration, information management, information technology, computer science, engineering, or related field.
• Successful leadership experience as a senior administrator at an institution of higher learning in the technology field.
