Job Description

The Web Administrator II is a member of the Ohio University Website Solutions team. This is a position responsible for maintaining the infrastructure for websites, web content management system, and associated applications. This includes application maintenance, change management for custom development, security administration, and documentation. It also includes contributing to the technical design, configuration and implementation of solutions to support effective website traffic management and content delivery networks.

Duties Include:
1. Web Administration – Performs system maintenance, monitors customer usage, and ensures interoperability and security of front-end components. Creates and manages service requests with vendors to resolve application problems. Executes change management procedures including the scheduling, planning, deploying, installing, and testing of all upgrades, patches, and enhancements of the web platform and related customizations. Provisions roles and user accounts. Manages user group memberships and permissions.

2. Monitoring and Reporting – Responsible for web system monitoring. Creates and provides reports on system performance, resource utilization, customer and feature usage. Applies resource management practices to systems. Develops written technical documentation, internal operating procedures, user manuals and instructions. Participates in the creating policies and procedures, standardizations and service levels working with technical groups or project managers.

3. User Support – Provides application training to users for new or changing services. Responds to requests from users regarding system operations. Triages web systems issues and determines solutions. Solves operational problems.

4. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree and 3-5 years professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with the administration, maintenance and use of LAMP stack technologies

  • Ability to use command line tools and write basic scripts (SSH, Bash, Drush)

  • Experience administering cloud-hosted applications

  • Experience with Git, GitHub or Bitbucket

  • Demonstrated knowledge configuring users, roles, and permissions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Drupal, Drupal multisite configuration

  • Knowledge of Content Delivery Networks (CDN) and NGINX

  • Knowledge of website search optimization

  • Familiarity with DevOps methodology

Pay Rate

The target salary range for this position is $52,000-$60,000. Salary is commensurate with candidate’s experience and qualification. Employees also enjoy a generous benefits package including health benefits, paid time off, and education benefits for employees and qualified dependents.
