Act as the lead point of contact on web design and development projects for Stanford academic and administrative units. Coordinate requirements definition, technical resource allocation, timelines, and budgets for complex Drupal and/or WordPress website projects. Take projects from original concept through final implementation. Work is typically comprised of 50% time contribution towards project leadership and 50% as a technical contributor.

 

Core duties

  • Perform the full range of project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Lead projects requiring functional integration. 

  • Direct development of an action plan, and estimate requirements for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project.

  • Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendation consensus within scope of responsibility.

  • Develop and help execute comprehensive change management strategy and communication plan relative to project scope and stakeholders on a focused project; actively manage resistance to change.

  • These elements typically delineate the project management involved at this level: Charter- charter and scoping involvement or scope definition, identify and shape scope; # of disciplines /stakeholders to manage is contained to localized department or university constituents; risk- manage and report on risks associated with projects to upper management, risk sharing is maintained between management and project manager; project complexity involves straight-forward technology applications to drive decisions; primary university relationship is at the individual faculty, department /director level; cumulative budget/scope from $100k to $250k.

Minimum requirements
 

Education & Experience:

 

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience in management of projects of moderate size/complexity with limited performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting, or combination of education and relevant experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Polished written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.

  • Ability to productively engage and influence cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.

  • Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem solving skills in a variety of situations.

  • Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.

  • Good customer service skills and ability to explain technical features to non-technical customers/clients.

  • Clear understanding of web standards and usability methods.

  • Good understanding of content management systems, such as Drupal, including the ability to define requirements informed by CMS features and functionality.

  • Knowledge of website delivery best practices.

 

Certifications and Licenses:

 

Agile Scrum Master and/or Product Owner certified, Project Management Professional (PMP) certified, completion of a Project Management Certificate program, or similar certification in process.

 

Physical requirements

  • Frequently sit, perform desk based computer tasks, and grasp lightly/fine manipulation and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

  • Occasionally stand/walk, write by hand.

  • Rarely use a telephone, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulder, grasp forcefully.

 

Working conditions
 

Travel locally and cross-university.
