Robotics Coach/iDept Faculty

Seeking an after school Robotics Coach and iDept Faculty member for a growing and innovative

Robotics program at ‘Iolani School.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Faculty member in iDept, teaching STEAM, Robotics or Innovation courses in grades 7-12th.
• Serve as the liaison for the robotics teams at ‘Iolani. These currently include FRC (9-12th grade), FTC (7-8th) and lower school robotics club. Responsibilities include:
  • Being the official point-of-contact for external organizations, volunteer mentors and parents
  • Managing event registration, rosters, team travel and team financial accounts
  • Schedule and coordinate meets and competitions
  • Developing competitive practices in all non-engineering aspects of the competition which impact overall team success (chairman’s award, team video, web site, outreach, etc.)
  • Publicize and raise awareness of ‘Iolani robotics both within the school and in the community. This includes encouraging community outreach, demonstrations, etc.
  • Manage a web site and ensure that it is updated regularly with team activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Enthusiasm for STEAM education and working with students of various age groups.
• Technical experience, such as engineering, programming, or industrial arts preferred
• Exhibit outstanding organization and time management skills
• Display highly effective communication skills geared to various age groups
• Able to work well collaboratively and independently

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Arts, Industrial Design or related field required.
• 2+ years professional educational experience working with secondary school-age children preferred.
• Experience with the FIRST or other robotics related programs preferred.
• Demonstrable hands on design and fabrication experience.
• 2+ years experience with embedded design (arduino, raspberry pi etc).
• 2+ years experience with 3D modelling using Onshape, SolidWorks or similar.

Salary:

Contingent upon work experience.
