Systems & Digital Technologies Librarian
The University of North Florida, Thomas G. Carpenter Library seeks a motivated, creative, and user-focused Systems and Digital Technologies Librarian to join our faculty. Under the supervision of the Assistant Program Director of Technical Services and Head of Library Systems, the Systems and Digital Technologies Librarian is responsible for maintaining high-quality, robust systems that facilitate search, discovery, preservation, and the delivery of library services and resources to the university community; enhancing the functionality, accessibility, and effectiveness of the Thomas G. Carpenter Library’s website, including overseeing content development and design; identifying emerging technologies that support and enhance library collections and services. Working both independently and in team settings, the incumbent develops new digital library services that emphasizes usability, sustainability, and performance; and provides training to library staff and the campus community regarding library systems and technologies.

Maintains and provides enhancements to a suite of applications comprising the integrated library system, digital repository and suite of Springshare products.

Enhances the functionality, accessibility, and effectiveness of the Thomas G. Carpenter Library’s website, including overseeing content development and design.

Assists in the development and implementation of library systems in support of instruction, research, access, digitization, collection management, discovery and Special Collections.

Supports Library Administration, Public Services and Technical Services, as needed. Includes teaching technology classes, managing interlibrary loan and electronic resource systems, and supporting systems used to digitize resources.

Works collegially with the university’s Information Technology Services to identify, stand-up, and manage library technologies and systems.

Maintains awareness and develops in-depth knowledge of new technologies that support library operations.

Engages in activities designed to heighten campus awareness of the digital repository, open access principles, author rights, and other important trends and issues in the growing field of digital communication.

Assists with collecting and analyzing data derived from library systems; supports library staff requests for data support for reports.

Prepares and maintains departmental documentation for new and existing procedures and processes.

Serves as library liaison for academic department(s).

Contributes to overall collection development through participation in the evaluation and development of the collection and in the review and selection of research databases and other library resources as appropriate.
Approved Hiring Salary Range at the rank of Assistant Librarian $45,750 to negotiable.
Applicants with a total of five years of experience in academic libraries post-MLS may be hired at the rank of Associate Librarian, with a salary of $50,000 to negotiable.
Requirements

Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution.

Knowledge and demonstrated application of information architecture concepts (navigation, content, and context).

Experience in the deployment of information technologies relevant to website design and maintenance (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, etc.).

Demonstrated ability to prioritize, coordinate, and implement projects.

Evidence of strong team building and ability to collaborate with diverse constituencies.

Evidence of excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills.
