Job Summary/Purpose:

PURPOSE: Supervise and oversee a range of information systems utilizing general knowledge of and involvement with programming languages, operating systems, data base management systems, data communications systems, software and software system analysis. Manage the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Ellucian Banner, a comprehensive student information system with additional integrated modules. Also, oversee the College web development team. Assist in day-to-day administration of technology department activities, such as short-term projects, scheduling, data and integrity management, staff training, and department management.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • This is a 12-month exempt position.

  • Requires flexible work schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends as well as travel throughout the district.

  • Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire.

  • Upon hire, must pass criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered.

Essential Functions:
  1. Manage the Banner/MIS and Web Development teams. Works closely with the MIS and Web Teams in support of daily task prioritization, scheduling, interdepartmental coordination and managerial aspects of the teams. Provide technical support as needed. 

  2. Assist the CIO with management of technology services for the college, including but not limited to process improvement, identifying needed resources, and recommending/prioritizing the deployment of existing resources in support of the college’s mission.

  3. Work with the InfoSec Admin and CIO to make recommendations covering the electronic data and information security of the college.

  4. Works closely with the CIO to review and make recommendations regarding new technology opportunities for the college.

  5. Make recommendations to the CIO on the preparation, implementation, update and revision of enterprise technology related policies, procedures and processes 

  6. Assist ITS teams in defining requirements and to design operational processes and procedures for systems interoperability projects, particularly spanning multiple ITS teams.

  7. Support teams to deliver daily or short-term projects on schedule and within budget, while controlling changes and minimizing risk. 

  8. Manage relationships with key ITS/MIS vendors. 

  9. Responsible for managing the budget for MIS and Web Development areas

  10. Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

  8. Skills in and proficient in software development, database programming, database development, software and database team programming methodologies and concepts.

  9. Skills and proficiency in managing department level budgets.

  10. Ability to work cooperatively with and contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas or experience.

Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:

Working hours are typically Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on some occasions, after regular work hours. Incumbent must be able to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms. Requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Occasional lift or transport of items up to 50 pounds. All individuals are required to be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. 

  2. 5+ years professional software and database development experience

  3. 3+ years supervising professional software development teams

  4. Experience with Department-level budgeting responsibilities.

  5. Technical experience including software development, testing, and system integration.
