The Information Technology Support Specialist, reporting to the Director of IT, is an entry position within the Information Technology Department (IT) of The New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM). This position works with the department Director, Deputy Director and, to a lesser extent, with the Database Administrator, as well as all NYAM staff.

The IT Support Specialist is required to be onsite by 9am every morning until 5pm. After hours work is unusual but does occur from time to time especially in support of various events that take place at NYAM.

Responsibilities

Manages all aspects of on-boarding new employees, including configuring user accounts, computer, telephone, email address and other support.

Provides timely and knowledgeable support for computer\telephone hardware, operating system (windows 7 and OSx) and Microsoft Office;

Manages and helps to maintain NYAM printers and multifunction devices. Responsible for collecting and submitting monthly printer counts to external vendor each month;

Facilitates daily operations of the IT department;

Troubleshoots and identifies solutions for issues experienced by in-house and remote employees;

Protects NYAM’s data from outside infiltration through encryption, secure data storage and other necessary means;

Provides, as needed, IT support to Education and Conference Center
