Position Summary

The University at Buffalo seeks a Manager of Instructional Technology Services to provide vision and leadership that aligns with UB’s strategic initiatives for educational experiences and a 21st- century campus. The Manager will lead the team responsible for the innovative integration of technologies and solutions in classrooms, learning spaces, and virtual learning environments. Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in traditional classroom audiovisual technology, as well as distance learning technology design, is desired. The incumbent will be able to competently and consistently perform the requisite roles and responsibilities with minimal supervision in a fast-paced and highly complex university environment.

The Manager will be responsible for:

  • Budgetary oversight and ensuring that operational processes are within accepted best practices and in alignment with support requirements.

  • Collaborating with other University departments, AV vendors, and contractors on design and installation planning. 

  • Serving on Instructional Technology committee planning discussions.

  • Providing expertise on learning technologies, tools, and best practices for technology-enabled learning spaces and virtual learning environments.

All duties and listed above occur in a 24/7 environment, therefore, as part of your professional obligation, working extended hours, holidays, and varied hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Media Communications, or a related technical discipline.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated leadership in providing quality customer service.

  • Supervising a complex information technology services organizations.

  • Lead technical professionals and projects within a technology environment.

  • Evaluating and implementing new practices and technologies to improve an organization’s programs and services.

  • Demonstrated technical competence in classroom/audio-visual technology, computer hardware, operating systems (e.g. Windows, Mac), and software applications.

  • Experience that reflects the ability to be flexible, provide realistic resource requirements, develop methods for prioritizing ever-changing needs, create measurable objectives, and be accountable.

  • Experience working with audiovisual consultants and contractors in the integration of audio-visual technologies in new construction and renovation projects.

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of best practices in project management, operations, and continuous service improvement.

  • Experience planning, organizing, training, and managing a diverse number of functions and personnel.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly with students, faculty, and staff who have differing levels of audiovisual and computer knowledge

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree

  • Industry certifications, such as CTS, and experience with digital media design and integration.

  • Familiarity with current technology control systems, such as those manufactured by Crestron or Extron.
