Audio Visual Technology Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to work for an institution of higher education focused on integrative learning and instruction at the intersection of theology, psychology, and culture. We are looking for a talented and creative technical professional to join our team. This position is responsible for providing service-minded support and direction for all audiovisual technology throughout the institution. This includes: maintaining and coordinating audiovisual equipment; providing technical assistance including recording classes, events, and lectures; producing captured content; and consulting between departments as we explore our next generation of audiovisual equipment and other innovative communication strategies through captured and broadcast media. Ongoing Seattle School students are not eligible for this position.  

Essential Functions

The Audiovisual Technology Specialist is responsible for:

Technical Support & Inventory Maintenance:

• Manage audiovisual technology  for classes, meetings, and events through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown.

• Collaborate effectively with Information Technology, Institutional Support, Marketing & Communications departments, faculty, and/or event hosts.

• Provide routine technical support, and problem resolution for all audiovisual technology, including: video conferencing systems, audio and video recording equipment, webinar technologies, audio equipment, and teleconferencing systems for meetings, conferences and presentations held on and off-site. Occasional travel required to support off-site events may be needed.

• Provide off-hours/mobile support as necessary and respond to off-hours escalated Audiovisual tickets as needed. Work non-business hours to support morning, evening, or weekend conferences/meetings as necessary, including occasional off-site Audiovisual setups.

• Provide ongoing training for classroom/event organizers to ensure a comprehensive understanding of needs and requirements; provide expert advice and recommend alternate options as needed in order to optimize service levels to all end users.

• In collaboration with Marketing & Communications department, maintain, coordinate, monitor, and help set up audiovisual equipment for use in class, meeting and conference rooms; maintain audio video equipment inventory; help ensure equipment is up-to-date and in working condition.

• Coordinate timely repairs and upgrades of all Audiovisual equipment.

Coordinating, Training, and Documenting:

• Partner with the Event Hosts, Faculty and Staff, as well as Marketing & Communications, Institutional Support, and Information Technology Departments to effectively manage high-profile events throughout the year. This includes meeting directly with Event Hosts (and related guests) to ensure that their needs are being met both before an event, as well as on the day of an event; ensure all equipment is setup and tested; monitor events and check-in with customers throughout an event’s duration.

• Maintain proficiency of all hardware and applications supported. Communicate capabilities of conference and classroom technologies to the institution to insure maximum/efficient use of their potential.

• Provide documentation and/or training on the use of Audiovisual technology in class, meeting, and conference rooms for a variety of end users. Recommend adjustments or supplemental training needs.

• Assist with determining and defining the support impacts of new technology and planned software upgrades.

• Work with other instructional and administrative staff, as required, providing high-reliability services for Audiovisual equipment.

• Serve on various committees as needed/requested.

• Assist with other special projects, tasks, and/or support as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

• GED/High School Diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• 2+ years’ experience in providing direct audiovisual technology support or related experience required.

• Ability to support IP telephony, multiple party conference calls, video conferences, webcasts, web-based seminars, meeting broadcasts between multiple locations, PowerPoint presentations, etc.,

• Proficient with capturing audio and video as well as editing in Adobe Creative Suite as directed by Design Manager. 

• Ability to handle Audiovisual content from concept through production to final product under direction from Marketing and Communications. 

• CD/DVD production for curricular needs and uses. 

• Familiarity with Zoom, or similar type of webinar administration software.

• Experience setting up and/or troubleshooting projection systems, video conferencing equipment, microphones, etc., required.

• Demonstrated exceptional customer service and troubleshooting, problem solving, and follow-up skills required.

• Ability to communicate in a pleasant and effective manner with faculty, staff, students, and external constituents.

• A strong attention to detail and quality control required.

• Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, composed manner; ability to quickly assess and assimilate a situation, then adjust their approach to fit.

• Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision.

• Excellent interpersonal skills required; must be a team player.

• Experience in a full-service conference hotel, professional services organization, or supporting a conference center or conference room floor, is preferred.
