Junior Graphic Designer

As a member of Windward School’s Communications Office, the Junior Graphic Designer will be a responsible team player with self-driven abilities who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, and fun work environment. This is an exceptional opportunity for a junior designer to gain a wide range of experience and skills in a supportive setting. The position reports to the Director of Communications & Public Relations.
Primary Responsibilities:

Works closely with Communications Team to respond to requests from a wide range of clients from within the school community (administrators, faculty, parent committees, department heads, etc.)

Manages the Communications Office’s project request system

Manages the Communications Office’s photo management system (PhotoShelter/Libris)

Designs promotional and event collateral, including graphics, images, logos, and ads, for both print and web

Creates fliers to advertise campus events

Creates one-sheets to promote school programs

Designs two-page neighborhood newsletter and two-page employee newsletter (both three times per year)

Packages and delivers appropriate files to vendors (outside designers, printers, etc.) prior to production

Collaborates with other members of the Advancement team to produce presentations and reports for board meetings

Creates occasional infographics for website/fliers

Creates custom email mastheads and PowerPoint templates as needed

Ensures the enforcement of brand guidelines school-wide

Manages visual assets for school marquees ensuring they are optimally sized and reflect the relevant content

Serves as a backup day-to-day photographer to capture school life for social media and web

Schedules professional photographers for high-profile school events

Researches and keeps abreast of emerging design trends and practices for print and web
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or bachelor’s degree in a related field with a certificate from a universitydesign program

One to four years of graphic design experience

Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)

Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Proven ability to work as a positive, enthusiastic member of a team

Strong visual thinker

Basic photography skills

Passionate about design and willingness to update job knowledge and learn new software by participating in educational training and conference opportunities

Education experience (K-12 or higher education) a plus
