Description:

Adult & Online Education at Campbell University invites applications for a faculty position in Information Technology Security, to begin in September 2018.  This is a 12 month, full time non-tenure track faculty positon at the rank of assistant/associate professor, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to advance in rank pursuant to the University’s promotion policy.Adult & Online Education offers several ITS-related majors including ITS-Information Security and ITS-Information Technology Management at the Associate of Arts (AA), Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree levels, and is planning additional programs such as Cybersecurity. AOE currently operates at three extended campuses: Fort Bragg/Pope Air Force Base in Fayetteville, NC; Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC; and downtown Raleigh. These degrees are also offered entirely online through AOE’s Online Campus.

Requirements/Qualifications:

The Adult & Online Education Faculty Leader for IT Security is responsible for the overall management and delivery of Adult & Online Education’s programs in Information Technology & Security in Information Security (ITS-IS), Information Technology & Security in Information Technology Management (ITS-IM), and related programs and courses. This includes collaborating with colleagues at Campbell University’s main campus to develop curriculum, and independently overseeing the implementation of the curriculum through adjunct faculty across all campuses of Adult and Online Education.

S/he will also coordinate instructional approaches among faculty, and will collaborate with directors and instructional designers to develop the knowledge and skills of faculty who teach in these programs. S/He will also develop relationships with employers and others in the industry. The ITS Faculty Leader will conduct annual program assessments (in collaboration with Campbell’s Director of Assessment).

The successful candidate will teach ITS courses across all locations of Adult and Online Education, in a combination of online and face-to-face modalities. S/He will work closely with campus directors and the other full-time faculty in the Information Technology area in Campbell’s College of Arts and Sciences to provide continuity between the main campus, extended, and virtual campuses.  S/He will collaborate with Faculty Leaders in other academic areas within Adult and Online Education to support the coordination and development of instructors.

Education and Qualifications:

• A PhD (or terminal degree equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution in an appropriate academic discipline
• Demonstrated experience (minimum 5-7 years) in a combination of academia and industry in the field of IT Security or IT Management
• Superior interpersonal skills
• Highly developed organizational, communication, and presentation skills
• Strong management and/or leadership skills
• Industry experience required
• Data analysis skills
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including the management of people
• Experience in teaching nontraditional students is desirable
• Experience in developing and deploying course and/or program assessments is desirable
• Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the learning environment and teaching methodology

Other Information:

Campbell University is an institution comprised of eight colleges and schools with a strong undergraduate General College Curriculum, enrolling approximately 3,200 full-time main campus undergraduate students, 1,200 extended campus students, and an additional 2,200 students enrolled in graduate and professional schools. 

Campbell University’s entrée into adult education via extended campus education began in 1976.  Currently, the university maintains campuses at Fort Bragg/Pope Army Airfield, Camp Lejeune/New River, downtown Raleigh, and online via Campbell University Online.  The main work location for this position will be at the Buies Creek, NC campus of Campbell University, although some work will be conducted at each of the other locations. Approximately one-sixth of Adult & Online Education’s students enroll in ITS related majors.
