Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing

 

Purpose
TMS is a unique and extraordinary school, with innovative programs, a history of success, and top tier student achievement. The School has a great story to tell. The Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing will be expected to plan for and realize the marketing and strategic communication needs of the school as determined by the School’s strategic planSignificance; build a common vision for TMS (messaging, images) and grow TMS’s name in new markets to support our enrolment management and advancement functions. The Director will work with the leadership team, staff and faculty, students, parents and alumni to share the stories of the school internally and externally. This position reports to the Executive Director, Community Development and is a full time non-faculty position that will work at both our Lower and Upper Schools. Given the nature of the position, some evening and weekend work will be required to attend and support TMS events.

Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate needs to be:

  • A strategic thinker and highly skilled communicator with extensive expertise in both digital and traditional media.

  • A professional with superior writing and editing skills and experience in design, social media technology, media relations, website management, data analysis and brand management.

The successful candidate has:

  • Initiative in abundance, demonstrated ability to explore innovative ideas and solutions, and capacity to work independently.

  • A demonstrated grasp of evolving communication channels and trends.

  • The talent to oversee multiple projects with different deadlines and stakeholders.

  • A university degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or related field.

    • An equivalent combination of training and directly related experience in strategic communications and implementation may be considered.

Experience with and understanding of the culture of an independent school or other educational organizations is an asset.
