IT Manager – Software Engineering
The IT Manager- Software Engineering leads the development and maintenance of sophisticated programs across multiple enterprise systems facilitating a seamless user experience for students and staff. This person will lead the development and manage administration of a full range of applications supporting online students/degrees including new cutting edge Salesforce development of a customized Student Information System and application integrations with internal and partner campus systems, managing the overall software development life-cycle. The Software Engineering Manager serves as the primary technical contact with partner campuses, software vendors, and internal colleagues to lead innovative, agile development to meet the changing demands of our technology needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and mentor a team of seven engineers and application administrators (Salesforce, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), Learning Management Systems) to develop and maintain the best technical design and approach for a highly scalable platform

Ensure integration testing and code reviews are completed for functionality and performance to maintain quality; assess team member skills and confirm compliance with best practices.

Collaborate with Enterprise Architect and Business Analysts to create, prioritize, and deliver business objectives into delivered solutions.

Create standards for development practices with the development team focusing on continuous improvement.

Ensure the team meets delivery deadlines and quality goals; collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to help define the product backlog.

Foster culture of continuous development improvement through coaching and metrics.

Contribute as part of the IT leadership team to the overall organizational technology strategy, planning and implementation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics or related field of study

Minimum of four years of software developer experience

Experience as a team lead or manager of a development team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics or related field of study

Experience with SaaS applications (e.g. Salesforce, Java, .NET, APEX, JavaScript)

Experience with Oracle, PeopleSoft and student information systems
-
Experience with iOS or Android application development
-
Experience in delivering solutions that incorporate clouds services (e.g. AWS, Azure)
-
Experience with Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and APIs (Application Programming Interfaces)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Technical expertise and knowledge of multiple modern object-oriented and mainstream scripting languages and testing practices

Skilled with Agile methodology and how it can be customized to fit a project team and achieve organizational goals

Ability to build or manage a team developing high-performing software

Skilled in performance analysis and testing

Strong communication skills and the ability to bridge the gap between technical and business teams

Strong interpersonal and creative problem solving skills
