Sr. Director, Foundational Technologies Services
The Associate CIO for Foundational Technology (FTS) Services is responsible for the strategy and implementation of all technology infrastructure deployed at Yale University. Develop and optimize short and long-term strategies, procedures, processes and tools to ensure overall success.
Overall responsibility for managing technology planning, and deployment of: technology management services; network and network based services; platform services; data management and governance services; security services; and application middleware technology services; for all infrastructure. Oversee the research, evaluation and integration of innovative technologies and approaches. Provides strategic direction and oversight for the design, development, operation and support of IT systems that fulfill the needs of the University, including the full life cycle of technical architecture, infrastructure engineering, infrastructure operations and IT service support. Works with HR and the IT leadership team to develop an infrastructure "people strategy" that aligns with the business and IT strategy. Continually looks for leading-edge and innovative solutions to the recruitment, development and retention of the infrastructure staff. Establish a world class Infrastructure service management / service delivery organization built upon the ongoing implementation of the information technology infrastructure library (ITIL) best practices. Partner with the CIO, IT Leadership team and IT Partners, to lead the definition and implementation of the technology infrastructure strategy to support the changing needs of the teaching, learning and research mission of the University. Implement programs and initiatives that drive service improvement, cost effectiveness, and optimization of resources within IT operations. Work with Technology Leaders across the University to gain their insights and support to identify, prioritize and deploy new and existing services. Develop leaders and managers for an ever-changing technology landscape which incorporate efficient execution while delivering ongoing productivity and cost reduction. This role must be entrepreneurial in thinking, planning, and implementation. Essential Duties
1. Formulates long-term goals and future direction of the area of responsibility. 2. Directs the reconfiguration, repair, or replacement of major systems and related equipment. 3. Directs and authorizes physical changes to facilities to improve the overall operation. 4. Serves as a member of University committees to ensure departmental representation and provides expertise on computer related issues. 5. Directs the formulation of University computing policies and procedures. 6. Ensures that operations comply with University auditing procedures and federal regulations. 7. Directs the development of division budget and authorizes expenditures. 8. Directs all resources of the division including staff of non-exempt and exempt employees. 9. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in related field and twelve years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 2:
Proven track record of infrastructure vision, innovation, and execution in a complex environment. Operations experience including capacity planning and forecasting, risk management, including response and recover, and business continuity.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Detailed technical knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as: virtualization, SAAS, PAAS, IAAS, operating systems, local and wide area networking, compute, storage, Data Center Infrastructure Management, data management, data protection and retention, configuration management, network, telephony and unified communications.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Proven expertise in short to long range planning, forecast, and manage financial budgets. Detailed understanding of current infrastructure best practices, organization and technology design principals and best practices.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Proven ability with disaster recovery and business continuity planning and execution.
