St. John's Episcopal Parish Day School in Tampa, Florida, seeks a dynamic and energetic educator to be our next Middle School Innovation and Media Specialist.  The successful candidate will have exemplary teaching skills, out-of-the-box ideas, technology savvy, and the ability to instill creativity and critical thinking in all learners.  The start date is October 1, 2018.

Duties include teaching Innovation to 5th – 8th grades students four of eight periods per day, five days per week.  The Innovation and Media Specialist teacher will:

  • Be a resource for teachers to integrate technology into their curriculum

  • Utilize the newly remodeled Media Center and Collaborative Learning Lab to inspire and develop critical and curious learners through student-led activities, inquiry-based instruction, maker space projects, and creative problem solving.

  • Instill the importance and value of digital citizenship and awareness through interactive and real-world examples producing responsible and thoughtful 21st-century learners. 

  • Utilize the school’s iPads and Macbooks to inspire students to become creators of content with digital storytelling, movie making, and multi-media projects. 

  • Maintain and promote the school’s library collection, the love of reading, and the exciting developments in children’s literature.

  • Coach the Middle School’s Battle of the Books team during school hours.

Preferred candidates will have a certification in Library Science or be willing to work towards certification.

Bachelor's degree with experience in maker space and project based learning activities.  Interest in promoting the uses of the media collection.
