GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Coordinator of Instructional Technology and Assessment facilitates the identification and implementation of innovative and emerging educational technologies as well as assisting faculty with application of academic technologies in the virtual and face-to-face classroom. This person will also assist with use of the College's learning management system (LMS), virtual classroom system, and other methods of course delivery to enhance assessment of our course, program, and general education student learning outcomes. This person will also be responsible for the development and delivery of student, staff and faculty training (and professional development) with the use of the College's LMS, virtual classroom system, and emerging educational technologies.

Position will be located in the Ahlfor's Building on the main campus. Some travel to other instructional locations will be required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
The Coordinator of Instructional Technology and Assessment reports to the Dean of Digital Learning and The Center for Academic Excellence.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
All full-time and part-time unit and non-unit professional staff assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Participates in the overall development, implementation and evaluation of faculty professional development delivery using a variety of distance learning modalities (face to face, blended and online) that also includes web conferencing.

  2. Collaborates with faculty and staff work areas to plan, create, and maintain course or work area templates, including related curriculum maps, that provide an outline for faculty to deliver a course in the college's learning management system based on the current Quality Matters course design rubric or similar national standard.

  3. Collaborates with the Academic Computing and the Help Desk to plan, create, and maintain web pages that provide training, technical assistance and basic end user support for our Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Collaborate, and other applications used by faculty and staff for instructional purposes.

  4. Collaborates with the Help Desk and technical support from other applications/programs/services to provide (or advocate for) technical assistance to our faculty, staff, and students related to applications/programs/services used by faculty and staff for instructional purposes.

  5. Support faculty with sound instructional design techniques to enhance our college assessment process for assessing student learning outcomes based on the current Quality Matters course design rubric or similar national standard.

  6. Train, educate, and guide faculty and staff on open education resource adaptation, production and publishing.

  7. Researches/investigates new instructional technologies (i.e. ? researches new instructional media technology, instructional methods, equipment, and software; evaluates instructional systems created).

  8. Attend all staff meetings and relevant user group information sessions.

  9. Read pertinent QCC publications and distance learning literature including web, print publications, and information from the Instructional Technology Council (ITC), college's current learning management system and Quality Matters Program (QM).

  10. Acquire and demonstrate an understanding of the professional work environment by observing timeliness and preparation for scheduled assignments, working cooperatively with others, presenting oneself as a role model for faculty and others, and by demonstrating dependability and flexibility.

  11. Participate in yearly evaluation regarding performance of duties.

  12. Actively support the teaching and learning process; practicing honesty and integrity in and out of the classroom; strive to create and support a student-centered environment while fostering academic innovation and excellence.

  13. Work actively with other areas of the college to ensure a spirit of college wide collaboration, collegiality, civility, and teamwork. Respect the function of dissent in an academic institution while advancing a collegial atmosphere of campus collaboration.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's Degree in instructional design, instructional technology, educational technology, or equivalent field.

  2. Six (6) or more years prior experience and/or training that includes instructional design using a learning management system such as Blackboard Learn, media production, instructional design, instructional technology, and educational technology; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  3. Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning.

  4. Demonstrated success and high level skill attainment in the following areas: accuracy in writing and updating print and on-line documents and information; written and verbal communication skills; working with students, faculty, and/or staff individually and in groups both face-to-face and on-line.

  5. Demonstrated success in developing and managing creative and complex projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's Degree in instructional design, instructional technology, or educational technology.

  2. Six (6) or more years prior experience in instructional design, instructional technology, and/or educational technology preferably in a community college setting.

  3. Demonstrated experience using screen, video, and audio capturing programs/applications such as Camtasia.

  4. Demonstrated experience in providing leadership and direction in distance learning education.

  5. Demonstrated experience using open education resources and educational technology to support student learning and assessment.

  6. Demonstrated experience applying curriculum maps.

  7. Demonstrated experience using Quality Matters course design standards.

  8. Demonstrated experience providing support and delivering professional development via audio/video/web conferencing product such as Blackboard Collaborate and via a learning management system such as Blackboard Learn.

  9. Demonstrated knowledge of usability/accessibility requirements such as ADA Section 508, universal design strategies in blended/online learning environments and technology issues specific to online/blended delivery of professional development.

  10. Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects.

  11. Knowledge of HTML coding.

Additional Information:

SALARY:
Salary is commensurate with MCCC salary schedule and dependent upon such factors as education and experience. Minimum starting salary is $65,161 per year. Anticipated starting annual salary range of $65,161 to $75,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

HOURS:
Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week, within the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Some evening or weekend availability will be required.
