International Student & Scholar Services at the University of Colorado Boulder welcomes applicants for a Technology Specialist. International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) facilitates the entry, success, and retention of approximately 3,000 international students and 750 international scholars. ISSS advocates on behalf of international students and scholars both within the university and to federal regulatory agencies to ensure that they are afforded every opportunity to complete their educational, research, and/or professional objectives. ISSS provides educational, social, and cultural programs that foster the integration and success of the international population on campus and in the local community and promote a greater understanding and appreciation for all cultures.

 

This position provides essential technology support and development for ISSS. In collaboration with relevant ISSS staff, the Technology Specialist assists with the implementation, testing, management, training, and maintenance of new and existing technology and technology solutions, including but not limited to sunapsis (international case management software), Web Express (web-publishing platform), eComm (Marketing Cloud, Salesforce, Cvent), SharePoint (collaborative platform), Office 365 (OneDrive, OneNote), Canvas (learning management system), and the shared office network drive. The Technology Specialist will also use knowledge of website development and design to make ISSS sites, electronic resources, and media accessible, user-friendly, and easily navigable by relevant users ensuring that all ISSS systems are effective and efficient.

 

Who We Are

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) seeks to support international students and scholars in pursuing their educational, research, and/or professional objectives at the university through comprehensive advising; engagement and programming; and advocacy efforts.

 

ISSS collaborates with university departments to support international students and scholars on-campus and assists and supports departments in their pursuit to develop international collaborations and hire top candidates in the field.

 

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Sunapsis Customization and Troubleshooting 

  • Collaborate with the SEVIS Manager and the Business and Communication Analyst to work on configuration and customization of system features and troubleshooting matters including building, testing, and maintaining templates, checklists, questionnaires, eForms, and automated emails. 

  • Participate in sunapsis meetings, trainings, and conferences. 

  • Develop sunapsis resource materials and training for various clients (such as ISSS, students, scholars, and departments).

  • Facilitate sunapsis user access. 

  • Review and analyze sunapsis efficiency and make recommendations for continuous improvements and customization. Review technical specifications of future phases of SEVIS and sunapsis and in testing and coordination of activities related to installing hotfixes, upgrades, and customizations.  

  • Assist with SEVIS data integrity processes by periodically reviewing SEVIS database data (e.g. reviewing SEVIS reports, downloads, and lists). 

  • Make recommendations for efficient and accurate data flow between sunapsis and SEVIS. 

  • Maintain record of all implemented software and related licenses.

Content Development, Design, and Maintenance 

  • Aid in the development and enhancement of the ISSS external website, e-communications, social media, and internal collaboration spaces. 

  • Make recommendations for editing and updating sites (e.g., navigation, file naming, layout, content) for continued site improvement and implements changes when appropriate. 

  • Build relevant pages, e-communications, and social media posts with content provided by ISSS staff and collaborators. 

  • Track and reports on Google Analytics for the ISSS website. 

  • Ensure content meets universal design and accessibility standards.

Coordination and Maintenance of Office Technology and Technology Solutions

  • Collaborate with the Business and Communication Analyst, brainstorms and tests potential technology solutions. 

  • Provide technical support, documentation, and training of ISSS team members related to use and maintenance of technology.

  • Manage check-out and maintenance of ISSS shared technology-related equipment recommending replenishment and replacements as required. 

  • Provide basic support and instruction for staff using software and office technology (laptops, tablets, cables, and other technology) in the office and at on-campus functions.

  • Maintain an accurate record of equipment allocated to the team and works with Desktop Support staff to ensure that the maintenance records are kept up-to-date. 

Statistical Data Collection & Report Creation

  • Compile and report annual data for statistical reports and requests, such as but not limited to the Open Doors reports, internal international student directory, and general international student and scholar statistics for the website. 

  • Provide assistance with report creation in responding to statistical and data requests received by ISSS or to internal needs. 

Special Projects, Administrative, and Other Duties 

  • Engage in photography and videography. 

  • Develop promotional materials for events. 

  • Assist with the updating of ISSS promotional materials displayed on office TVs.

  • May assist with reporting of statistical information. 

  • Provide professional support to Director of ISSS in regards to special projects. 

  • Serve on internal committees and work groups. 

  • Participate in weekly case management meetings, ISSS team meetings, etc. 

  • Engage in professional development and compliance training opportunities.  

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

What We Can Offer

The anticipated salary range for this position is $47,000 - $52,000

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, OneDrive, SharePoint, OneNote).

  • Experience using Web Express or similar web-publishing platform.
