Position Description

This position is within the IT Services unit of the Carolina Population Center. It is responsible for providing information technology support for the Measure Evaluation project, which has research in approximately 50 countries.
Activities include providing desktop and peripheral support for the project’s users in Chapel Hill and in international settings (in conjunction with on-site support staff), providing backup to the project’s Systems Analyst for Electronic Data Collection and management of electronic devices, and providing support for video conferencing and distance collaboration.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the position’s role. 
- Computer coursework may be substituted year-for- year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
- Journey level requires an additional six months experience 
- Advanced level requires an additional one year of experience.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Must have experience with supporting technology in an academic/office environment.
Must be familiar with the configuration and set up of Laptop and Desktop Computers at an experienced user level and have a general knowledge of Apple and Android products.
Must have a good-to-expert level working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2016 and Office 365.
Must be proficient with Microsoft OneDrive.
Must demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and guidelines, with the ability to use logic and troubleshoot issues.
Must demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Must be punctual, reliable and exhibit professionalism. 
Domestic or international travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

Video conferencing support using cloud-based software solutions and local hardware.
Experience imaging Android and Windows devices.
Graduation from a two year technical college with a major in computer science, information technology or related area and one year in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or graduation from a four year college or university and one year experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or graduation from a four year college or university with a major in computer science or information technology or related degree.
