The Communications Office at Friends Seminary works to promote the School, both internally, and in the public eye. Through its efforts in communications and media, the office aims to safeguard the Quaker mission of the School, and showcase it in action. The Visual Communications Designer is a full-time member of the Communications Office, reporting to the Associate Director of Communications. This person has important responsibilities in creating digital, print and multimedia assets that will help tell the story of Friends Seminary.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and post stories for the website, social media, weekly email newsletter, microsites and CCTV monitors, as well as for print pieces 

  • Serve as the Friends website’s technical webmaster, which includes regular maintenance and troubleshooting (front and back ends)

  • Manage programming, designing, scheduling and installations for the Rosenquist Art Gallery

  • Utilizing skills in coding and design, pitch and execute innovative solutions for communication systems

  • Serve as a primary photographer for the school, which includes covering some night and weekend events

  • Manage stationery and business cards for all offices

  • Assist with administrative duties, such as Amex reports and vendor payment requests

  • Assist with room reservation and school calendar systems

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Acute attention to detail and a high degree of organization

  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS and Javascript

  • Familiarity with email service providers such as MailChimp and Constant Contact is highly desirable

  • Ability to keep pace in deadline-driven environment across multiple projects

  • Strong ability to prioritize work based on short and long-term needs
