Information Technology Operations at The University of Tampa has a position available for a Media Technology Specialist. Under the direction of the Head, Campus Media Services the Media Technology Specialist is an audiovisual support role for university events.  Working under a customer centric Information Technology and Security organization, s/he is directly responsible for the setup, monitoring, staffing, and management of those events.  The incumbent is also responsible for optimizing and modernizing event operations in Media Services to ensure the best possible support, looking for ways to continuously improve the efficiency of operations.       

Responsibilities 

  1. Setup and operate Audio Visual equipment for the implementation of educational programs, including seminars, special presentations, and programs in the different college venues.

  2. Coordinate and schedule department resources for events (equipment, personnel, etc.) ensuring the timely setup, support, testing and removal of equipment.  

  3. Supervise and train student employees, maintaining a documented training program.   

  4. Maintain, repair, and oversee repairs of event equipment.  Troubleshoot audio visual systems and technical issues as necessary to ensure proper operation during events.  

  5. Work with university and community members to identify needs for events held at university venues.

  6. Prepare information for the purchase of new equipment, and keeps supervisor informed of the need for equipment or services; maintains a current inventory of all event equipment.

  7. Video post-production. You will be required to edit and produce a finish video of some events using Adobe Premiere Production Suite and Apple I-MAC computers. 

  8. Recording and streaming of university events as needed. 

  9. Crate and maintain documentation of event operation processes as necessary to ensure continuity of service.  

  10. Continuously improve event management operations, and make recommendations to leadership on solutions including hardware, audiovisual equipment, and event management software.  

Qualifications

  1. AA or AS degree minimum, Bachelor Degree preferred. 

  2. Two (2) years’ experience setting up and running events from simple meetings to small concerts. 

  3. Experience with scheduling equipment for events and supervising students preferred.

  4. Experience training subordinates and peers.

  5. Fundamental knowledge of audio and video signal routing, sound systems, video display systems.  

  6. Knowledge of operation and maintenance of basic media equipment (i.e.: sound systems, microphones and mixing boards, LCD projectors, video recorders and players, cameras, laptop computers, etc.)

  7. Knowledge of computer skills (PC/MAC platforms, i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point). Must be able to edit and produce videos using the Adobe Premiere Production suite. Must understand Audio editing and production. 

  8. Ability to create and maintain training material using PC or Mac based word processing software.

  9. Must be available to work a flexible schedule. May require some evening work. Will be required to work at least one Sunday a month for open house and other weekend events when necessary. 

  10. Ability to work within a collaborative environment under occasional stressful conditions.

  11. Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.

  12. Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

Work Schedule (will flex sometimes)
Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Summer – Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. One Sunday a month will be required for Open House.
