VICE PRESIDENT, INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY, Information Systems and Technology (IS&T), to provide strategic leadership, vision, and management for MIT's IS&T organization. IS&T focuses on both emerging solutions and enabling services for MIT's computing environment. The VP will lead an organization of 250 staff and oversee a budget of $90M. Will be charged with computing infrastructure, cloud-based services, and expert consultation on the use of innovative technologies and services across MIT; and serve as a member of the president's Academic Council, which consists of the Institute's senior leadership and the Information Technology Governance Committee, a decision-making body reporting to the provost and executive vice president and treasurer. It will be critical for the VP to build strong relationships with MIT's leaders, acting as a true partner in making IT an enabler that supports research, administration, and academic/student services.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a master's degree in computer or information science or related field; at least fifteen years of progressive IT experience in a collaborative, decentralized, and service-oriented IT operation; a minimum of five years' leading decision making in a large scale, cloud-based computing environment; experience with SAAS, data management, storage and access, cloud computing services, API-development, and integration service capabilities (with deep expertise in one); and an understanding of the academic environment, including consensus decision-making, faculty governance, and working with student experts. Must be able to posture IS&T to operate in a changing IT products and services marketplace; motivate staff, offer transparent leadership through change, and sustain a culture of teamwork; and partner and communicate effectively with IT directors throughout the Institute. Job #16683
