Installs, maintains, updates, and repairs all campus servers, networking, and telecommunications equipment.

In conjunction with the Chief Information Officer and other technology personnel, plans and assists in building, testing and implementing new images for deployment to desktops and laptops.

Installs, supports, maintains, updates, monitors and repairs campus network connections (ISP devices, switches, routers, wireless access points, network cabling).

Maintains, updates, and repairs campus firewalls, including monitoring associated log files.
-
Configures, updates, and maintains the campus computer network in ways that involve system down time at night, over school vacations and/or during the summer to reduce impact on the user experience.

Employs strategies to minimize desktop support by centralizing and standardizing using server technology resources, and rapid deployment techniques (for example, images, package push out from a centralized source).

Manages Macintosh computer and iOS clients via Jamf Pro configuration profiles and policies

Provides input to Chief Information Officer on network-related hardware and software purchases.

Ensures critical campus systems are secure and stable through the use of data backup, virus protection, battery backup, power backup, surge protection, and other appropriate means.

Develops, recommends, and implements strategies for network growth, security, and enhancement by maximizing functionality of network equipment.

Develops and administers network disaster recovery plan to maintain LAN/WAN network systems operation.

Maintains current and comprehensive network documentation to include easily understood and well-organized configuration descriptions, security information, written overviews of functionality, clear descriptions of process and procedure, network diagrams and any other information necessary to maintenance of the organization’s computer systems.

Interfaces and negotiates with vendors and suppliers to ensure adequate delivery and maintenance of equipment and services.

Proactively performs network and security analysis to identify and correct issues before they become problems, to include continual monitoring of system notifications and review of system analysis reports.

Performs routine and emergency maintenance of all data center equipment.

Provides resolution of complex problem tickets escalated from the other members of the technology department.

Works with other technology personnel to ensure that computer inventories are kept accurate and up-to-date.

Remains “on-call” to handle network-related emergencies.

Responsible for daily monitoring of network-related HelpDesk ticket flow and resolution of network related HelpDesk tickets. Assures a 24-hour turn around in communication to users regarding problems.

Provides desktop support and audio/visual coverage when needed.

Additional duties may be assigned by the Chief Information Officer as required.
