The Senior Software Systems Developer coordinates a variety of software systems projects. This position acts as a project leader, coordinating the efforts of programming and systems analysis staff members to develop software systems. The Senior Software Systems Developer designs and analyzes software systems and provides direction and assistance to staff in the resolution of technical and programming problems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Establishes priorities for software system projects;

  • Coordinates software system projects;

  • Researches new software technologies and methods;

  • Assists staff in the resolution of technical and programming problems;

  • Analyzes software applications and client requirements;

  • Designs software solutions;

  • Constructs software applications and testing procedures;

  • Supervises staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience working in a lead role for system programming projects; analyzing, designing and programming software systems; managing projects; developing and implementing software solutions; programming in a database environment;

Skill in assessing and communicating programming needs; system analysis and design programming;

Knowledge of computer programming technology; principles and methods of systems; procedures and analysis in an interactive systems environment; principles and techniques of systems planning and programming; concepts and specifics of database management information systems and technology;

Ability to manage projects and work flow for timely completion, communicate effectively in both oral and written form, analyze and resolve operational problems, develop effective system solutions, travel to various locations;

Physical Abilities include sitting for extended periods, lifting, reaching, pushing/pulling, fine manual dexterity, talking/hearing, and near and far visual acuity, depth perception, color vision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five (5) years of experience in ASP.NET and Visual Basic.NET programming in a Microsoft SQL Server data base environment;

  • Five (5) years of experience designing/developing client-server/multi-tier-enterprise wide interactive software applications;

  • One (1) year of experience working in a lead role for system programming projects;

  • Possession of a Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology or closely related fields – OR – four (4) additional years of experience in ASP.NET and Visual Basic.NET programming in a Microsoft SQL Server data base environment;

  • Possession of a high school diploma (or its equivalency) or higher or possession of a GED.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four (4) years of experience in a supervisory or project leadership position working with Software Developers or other Developer type positions;

  • Experience programming in California Schools Financial and/or Payroll software;

  • Experience in designing/programming using object-oriented analysis and design techniques;

  • Certified as a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD).
