The Office of the Registrar shall log the official academic record for all students and maintain the integrity, accuracy, and privacy of same. In addition, we ensure compliance with all federal, state, and University regulations and policies. By working as a cohesive team within the Office and the Division of Enrollment Management, we strive to provide the highest level of service to all constituencies, both within and outside the University.

Primary Purpose of Position

Serving as a member of the University Registrar’s Management Team, the Associate Registrar for Technology participates in the planning, designing, project management, and implementation of innovative technical solutions to further the service mission of the Office of the Registrar, as well as the UNC Charlotte Community on these solutions and relevant policies/procedures. The incumbent also serves as the NCAA compliance liaison with athletics, a member of the implementation team for software installations, and cross-divisional technical committees. The incumbent will also be required to exercise sound judgment, think strategically, and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and families.

Summary of Position Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of the Technology Team and the Documents/Transcript Team to include providing leadership, helping to determine work priorities, and ensuring that quality standards are met. 

  • Develop processes to ensure the security and accuracy of the student database and that the fullest functionality of the Ellucian Banner Student System is being utilized. 

  • Responsible for developing sustainable technical solutions to business needs or problems, providing technical support to functional leads, and researching and recommending new or improved technologies.

  • Responsible for managing the overall functions of the Ellucian Banner Student Information System, the Degree Works Degree Audit System, the C7 ImageNow Document Management System, AdmissionPros and College Scheduler. 

  • Assist units with troubleshooting, upgrade testing, and daily work during critical periods of high demand.  

  • Provide technical and analytical support to the Office of the Registrar, with a particular emphasis on data integrity, best practices, process streamlining, training, and documentation as they relate to software utilized by the members of the Office. 

  • Develop and coordinate the communication plan for the office.

  • Serve as a liaison to Information Technology Services and project managers in the implementation of new initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain an overall working knowledge of UNC Charlotte’s student operations and procedures and their impact on student systems. 

  • Maintain a thorough and continuing familiarity with all applicable University and NCAAregulations related to student-athletes ensuring compliance within the context of these position responsibilities.

Minimum Education/Experience
  • Master’s Degree required. Minimum 5 years of related progressive professional experience in Higher Education (preferably in an Office of the Registrar).

  • Prior supervisory experience.

  • Experience and knowledge working with FERPA.

  • Strong commitment to the supervision, support, and development of staff.

  • Demonstrated enthusiastic and creative use of information technology systems to provide solutions to the academic community.  

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituencies including faculty, staff, administrators, and students.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Technology Support Analyst or Assistant/Associate Registrar preferred.

  • Programming, report writing, dashboard creation, problem resolution, workflow development, and technology analyst capabilities preferred.
