System Engineer/Manager The Office of Information Technology Services is seeking a System Engineer/Manager to perform the analysis, design, planned implementation, administration, and management of designated enterprise servers and other related systems as well as to research, develop, write and test new moderately complex computer technologies in consultation with IT management. The System Engineer will supervise a team of system technicians & administrators and provide timely reports to IT Management and the CITO’s Office. Duties include, but are not limited to: administer and manage various servers including Enterprise Storage (Dell EMC, NetApp, Dell SAN Arrays, etc.), Email (Exchange, O365) Virtual Environment (VMWare), Single Sign On (Shibboleth, ADFS, etc.); maintain optimal operations of current environment; assist with design and maintenance planning for growth and hardware transitions; maintain optimal configurations and redundancy; assist in planning, acquiring and implementation of new storage arrays; work with network and security staff to ensure efficient and secure environments of various servers; work with developers to troubleshoot problems on servers in all environments and assists with integration of new code into production systems, work with system administrators to ensure optimal management of Enterprise systems/servers to increase fault tolerance maintain redundancy; provide exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large; serve as a project lead for assigned projects; develop comprehensive technical documentation and system diagrams; and perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Four (4) years experience as a complex enterprise system administrator preferred. The successful candidate will possess advanced knowledge of enterprise windows servers (Operating Systems, Powershell, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, O365, etc.), virtualization (VMware) and storage (Dell EMC, NetApp) administration and how they relate to enterprise network architecture. Knowledge of advanced computer system analysis, design, testing, debugging and maintenance techniques. Required Qualifications |
