Georgia State University’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL/CII - cetl.gsu.edu) is looking for a skilled Manager, Technology Enhanced Learning Research to join our vibrant and growing team. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for coordinating data collection, analysis, documentation, and promotion of evidence-based teaching practices related to instructional innovation and technology-enhanced education at Georgia State University. The scope of work includes collaborating with organizational leadership and institutional partners to evaluate and report on existing and emergent CETL programs and initiatives, with an additional emphasis on assessing the quality and impact of instructional innovations and technological-enhanced teaching and learning practices at Georgia State University. The position requires a highly motivated and collaborative individual, who is able to communicate effectively and possesses strong organizational, analytic, and writing abilities.
Responsibilities include the following:

Promoting and supporting faculty research and scholarship in the areas of instructional innovation and learning technologies. Assisting faculty with research design, IRB application, and implementation of learning technologies and/or instructional innovations. Creating collaborative opportunities for research and assessment with interested faculty and academic departments. Coordinating with the stakeholders as needed.

Identifying and conducting educational research projects which aim to evaluate the efficacy and significance of ongoing and emergent CETL programming, practices, and initiatives. Monitoring recent trends in educational research, instructional innovations, and emergent learning technologies, identifying new areas of interest, exploration, and experimentation. Serving as a liaison to institutional research offices, academic departments, and individual faculty, university stakeholders interested in evaluating and implementing innovative instructional practices in the classroom. Conducting high-level evaluation that supports institutional and programmatic decision-making.

Increasing faculty interest and involvement in innovative teaching and learning practices. Demonstrating the efficacy of programs, practices, and support resources through rigorous methodologically and theoretically sound, evaluation research. Collaborating with faculty on research projects that center around instructional innovation and learning technologies. Surveying and interviewing faculty regarding their experiences with instructional innovations and learning technologies, assessing faculty satisfaction with teaching with those practices and/or technologies. Surveying students on their satisfaction with learning technologies and conducting student focus groups regarding their educational experiences. Creating, delivering, and evaluating faculty development workshops.

Lead a major area of the Learning Technologies unit. Supervise graduate research assistants. Manage staff workload. Participate in budget planning and management. Participate in recruiting and hiring talent. Respond in a timely and professional manner to requests for information. Plan and participate in work-related community events. Advise the Director of Learning Technology on strategy related to learning technology, innovative practices in teaching, and research. Represent the research team on campus committees and participate in relevant meetings, working groups, workshops and conferences.

Researching and developing relevant background materials and writing programmatic and policy reports. Conducting background research and supplementary materials and policy reports. Conducting background research and supplementary materials to CETL leadership and management as needed.

Successful Candidates will possess the following:

Master's Degree required, doctoral degree preferred.

Minimum of two years teaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.

Knowledge of the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Experience with qualitative and quantitative research or program evaluation.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Individual must be a self-starter, who is able to identify and solve problems; take on a wide range of tasks to deliver results; behave in a collegial and professional manner; demonstrate excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

Experience using data to inform instructional practices

Demonstrated ability to plan and facilitate meetings.

Experience supporting faculty development events.
