Pay Grade 38. This position provides multimedia production and productivity software assistance to members of the UTC community. The Studio Specialist and Technology Trainer provides consultation, demonstration, and troubleshooting for all Studio equipment and facilities that support Audio/Video production, print and web design, 3D modeling and printing, and other related activities. This position mediates access to Studio equipment and facilities by recommending and circulating equipment as well as by monitoring reservations. This position also serves as a campus trainer for MS Office productivity software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and O365 products. Productivity software training includes developing and conducting sessions for a recurring workshop series, providing individual consultations, developing of print and digital learning objects and resources, and training Library staff. 

Studio operates seven days per week for a total of 76 hours. This position works Sunday to Thursday, second shift, with availability to work outside of regularly scheduled hours on occasion.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Must have a minimum of one year of work experience in a public service, technical training, or multimedia environment. A minimum of one-year experience working in a library setting preferred. Prior work experience in audio/video, multimedia field, or technical training may serve as a proxy for education; every two years of experience will count as a year of post-secondary education.

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to interact professionally, congenially, and collaboratively with a variety of constituencies, including students, faculty, colleagues, vendors, etc. Must have the ability to work as part of a team in a complex, changing environment.  The ability to interpret policies and procedures and the ability to explain them to the constituencies above and enforce them fairly is required. Must have the ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment. Must have knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and ability to explain its concepts and related skills to students, faculty, and staff who may represent a range of skill levels. Knowledge of graphic design, web design, or publication design is required. Knowledge of any combination of audio production, video production, photography, animation, drafting, and 3D design is required. Must have ability to use both Windows and Mac operating systems. Must have ability to learn new technology quickly. Must have critical thinking skills and proven ability to multitask and meet competing demands. Must have great attention to detail and ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Previous library, higher education, tutoring, training, or customer service experience is preferred.
