Position Purpose |
Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Assistant Director for Information Systems coordinates systems and database management to support the Financial Aid Office’s (FAO) administration of Federal and institutional financial aid resources utilizing a variety of software and technologies. The position also partners with the lead information systems officer in Admissions and acts as the technical back-up. |

Key Accountabilities |
Systems Operations – Oversees and manages FAO systems operations and maintenance of the BANNER financial aid module, Award Management (DFAAM), OnBase, the electronic Scholarship application, Institutional Reporting and Analysis (IRA) and other software applications; Manages the transfer of data between Admissions (SLATE) and Financial Aid (BANNER); Works with FAO staff to automate processes and create reports in IRAfor standard functions; Provides technical support for the office in its use of DFAAM. Oversees routing rule process to move files through the application process; Oversees the record imaging process in OnBase and the electronic record retention process; Works with Senior Associate Director to provide needed data to the College Board Profile and IDOC services and to resolve any problems that arise. 30% Data and processes – Manages the automatic follow-up campaign for incomplete applications and federal verification; Supports endowed scholarship process; Designs report formats, develops data queries and programs and extracts data from databases and/or manipulates data as needed for use in reports and routine projects for various members of the FAO management team. Serves as point person for the Financial Aid Office in responding to requests for statistical data from the Office of Institutional Research (OIR) and others. 30% Computer Support and Projects – Manages and oversees everyday maintenance, testing, utilization, and modification of computer software and hardware in FAO; Troubleshoots and problem-solves in the following areas: database management, word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail, loan processing and file servers; Partners with Dartmouth Information, Technology and Consulting (ITC) with RFP/RFI processes, business process analysis, planning, project execution, testing and deployment on new projects; Works with ITC to improve Financial Aid systems to be efficient, automated and in supported technologies; Provides training to staff on the use of various software applications and serves as back-up for all automated processes run by FAO staff; Writes documentation of reports and processes and develops user manuals. 25% Primary Destination Point Administrator – Serves as the primary Destination Point Administrator (DPA) responsible for the administration of the organization’s Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) participation including assigning access to federal electronic communication and services; Manages federal electronic data transmissions through the Central Processing Center (CPS) and Common Origination and Disbursement (COD); Provides back up and system support to the Federal Direct Loan Program and the Federal Pell program including certification, electronic transfer of funds, assists with reconciliation and resolution of rejected files; Works with external vendors in the Federal and Alternative loan programs to automate and resolve software problems. 15% |
