The office of Global Outreach and Extended Education is looking for an Instructional Technology Specialist to support the online learning environment.  The Instructional Technology Specialist works primarily to provide classroom instructional technology and multimedia support to ensure proper and effective operations.
 
The successful candidate will have demonstrated working knowledge of classroom technology and management of classrooms.  S/he will posses management skills to monitor student workers and oversee server rooms.

Salary Range: $43,488 - $60,400 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Trains and monitors student workers activity to record audio and video of classroom-based lectures for online course delivery.

  • Manages courses within lecture capture infrastructure and ensures appropriate integration with learning management system(s).

  • Works collaboratively with project team members in the development and deployment of classroom recorded media elements that support online course delivery.

  • Receives, responds to, and monitors status of requests for technical assistance from students and faculty.

  • Provides technical support related to classroom technology, learning management systems, video recording, video conferencing and other collaboration tools to faculty and staff.

  • Maintains classroom and server room technology related to lecture delivery and recording.

  • Maintains technical documentation for internal and external use.

  • Recommends methods to improve quality and processes.

  • Tests new technologies and evaluates educational applications.

  • Remains abreast of technology directions, initiatives and trends within scope of expertise to provide ideas, guidance and recommendations.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in technology or related field AND two years of experience providing information technology services; OR Four years of experience providing information technology services; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.  Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in video and IT system trouble-shooting.

  • Experience with systems used for distance education and supporting instructors and users in an academic environment.

  • Experience providing technical support to customers in an education setting i.e. faculty and students.

  • Experience working with and deploying interactive content within learning management systems e.g. Canvas

  • Project management skills, including handling multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience using technical support tracking and project management systems.

  • Evidence of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology or closer related field

 

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking

  • Frequent physical demands may include stooping, bending, crawling under/around objects, reaching, lifting and pushing objects of varying weights up to and over 100 pounds

  • Receive regular review of completed tasks

  • Communicate to perform essential duties
