Network Technician Intern

Nobles seeks a network technician intern. This is a full-time, 6-month temporary position that could possibly lead to a regular status position.
Under the direction of a systems administrator, the systems co-op will provide technical support to Nobles faculty, staff and students with regard to various devices. These devices will include, but are not limited to: desktop computers, laptops, tablets , smartphones, printers, projectors, monitors, audio/visual equipment, and other peripheral devices. The school is predominantly MAC based but knowledge of PCs is also useful.
Responsibilities will include assisting in the operational support of production systems, troubleshooting and repair, hardware deployment, software installation, moves and changes, and service call documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities

Provides break/fix technical support for devices described above

Responds to calls for technical support help in classrooms

Assists senior technical staff as appropriate for troubleshooting of network infrastructure issues

Assists faculty, staff, and students with basic computer use questions and issues, e.g. accessing wireless network, adding email account to mobile devices

Participates in large-scale hardware deployment projects

Responds to, and participates in, tech support requests for on-campus events
-
Periodically covers on-site help desk to triage and respond to walk-in support requests

Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
-
Actively pursuing an associate or bachelor-level degree in computer science, computer engineering, networking engineering, or a related technical discipline

0-3 months experience in a customer service focused environment, preferably in education or technology operations

0-3 months experience with hands-on installation, configuration, troubleshooting and repair of workstations, laptops and printers

Ability to frequently lift and carry supplies and hardware weighing up to 25 pounds
Preferred Skills/Abilities/Competencies

Basic knowledge and understanding of computing and networking principles

Ability to apply troubleshooting techniques

Must be detail oriented and able to prioritize work requirements

Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills
