The mission of Innovation and Digital Learning team is to establish and uphold a culture that embraces innovative teaching and learning. Members of this team work with the Charleston County School District schools and learning communities to ensure successful integration of technology resources and proven practices. Team members work to increase student achievement through:

  • Facilitation of systemic professional development focused on effective technology integration and innovative teaching and learning; and

  • Support of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate, ISTE Standards, and South Carolina College and Career Ready Standards.

Primary Position Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver professional development to school faculties, district learning communities, and district- and school-based Instructional Coaches on prioritized topics, including:

    • Classroom technology hardware integration (Promethean Panels, mobile devices)

    • Digital citizenship for schools and classrooms

    • Digital work-flow and productivity (Google classroom and G-Suite for Education)

    • 1:1 classroom management, SOPs, management software and apps

    • Best practices in innovative instruction and deeper learning (Personalizing learning, PBL, blended learning, design thinking)

  2. Develop and manage graduate and recertification courses for teachers

  3. Hire and train instructors for graduate and recertification courses

  4. Serve as Co-Chair or member of Classroom Modernization Committee

  5. Analyze data and collaborate with IT and district leaders on integrating appropriate technologies in schools

  6. Provide consultation to principals and district leaders on integrating technology into classrooms

  7. Provide consultation on technology integration decisions (access to online resources, student device options, emerging classroom technologies, adaptive digital content options)

  8. Participate in ongoing professional learning related to technology integration and innovation practices in education

  9. Support identified schools with initiatives related to innovation and digital learning

Requirements
  • Master's Degree

  • Five years of successful classroom teaching

  • Proficient in integrating technology into teaching and learning

  • Possesses strong technology skills related to productivity and digital collaboration in the work place

  • Experience with supporting district-wide educational technology resources and systems

  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends and research in educational technology and innovative teaching practices

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to efficiently organize and prioritize work-flow

  • Ability to effectively problem solve and collaborate on a team

  • Must hold (or be eligible for) South Carolina State Board of Education Teacher Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of successful experience with teaching adult learners

  • Master's Degree in Educational/Instructional Technology, Education, or related field

  • Extensive experience working with current educational technologies: iPad, Chromebooks, Google G Suite for Education, SMART Boards, Promethean Panels, adaptive digital content and other digital resources to support learning
