Job Description

This role is a contract/temporary position covering 35 hours per week .

We are currently seeking a Technology Services Associate. This individual will report to the College of Education and Human Services' (CEHS) Director of Technology Services. In this role, the ideal candidate will provide technical support to faculty, administrators, and staff by tending to the day-to-day technology concerns of the College. Major responsibilities include providing desktop support and academic technology support, grant equipment research and support, mentoring and providing leadership for student workers/interns, tracking inventory, and assisting the Director.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support for Windows and Apple computers for College of Education and Human services staff, faculty, graduate assistants, and student workers

  • Perform printer support and maintenance as well as setup through Active Directory

  • Perform wired and wireless network troubleshooting for CEHS-managed equipment

  • Perform hardware repairs and maintenance to ensure desktop integrity

  • Ability to deploy desktop/laptop configurations with MDT/SCCM for Windows, JAMF for Macs

  • Perform data backups, transfers, and secure wipe of computers and mobile devices

  • Configures, troubleshoots, and maintains non-standard software and hardware

  • Support specialized software for labs such as Optimum Control software, Noldus Face Reader software and Microplate reader software for the Health and Nutritional Sciences and Exercise Science programs

  • Prepare and author documentation about supported software applications,hardware configurations, policies, and procedures related to CEHS Technology Services & Facilities Operations

  • Provides technical support and training for Faculty and Staff

  • Provides ongoing support to Faculty with grant-related request and inquiries

  • Investigates, evaluates and recommends hardware and software upgrades

  • Maintains and supports the CEHS specialized labs which consist of the ADP Center for Learning Technologies, the Health and Nutritional Sciences lab, The Athletic Training and Exercise Sciences labs, and The Aesthetics and Creativity lab

  • Some knowledge of digital cameras, data projectors, digitizing and audio visual equipment

  • Manage, process and solve client requests that come from phone calls, emails or walk-ins, using our Service Now ticketing system while adhering to SLA requirements

  • Procures, maintains, and tracks CEHS technology inventory.

  • Proficiency with Windows/*nixCLI, shell scripting, Windows batch scripting, a plus

  • Mentor and provide leadership/task management for student technology interns and student technology support assistant

  • This is not a comprehensive list and other duties may be assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor's degree preferred; professional work experience in an information technology or computer science capacity may substitute.

Major and/or coursework in computer science, instructional technology, or relevant field required. Experience working with Enterprise software applications, computer hardware, printers, and other peripherals is preferred. Familiarity with servers, networking and modern OS such as Linux, Unix, Macintosh OS X, and Microsoft Windows is also preferred. MCSE, MCSA, Apple Certified Support Professional, and/or A+ certification is a plus.

Experience working in an educational environment preferred. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be excited and eager to engage in proactively solving difficult and unfamiliar technical issues. Must have proven ability to patiently and clearly explain and outline steps in a process to staff who have limited expertise in technology.
 

Salary Range

This role is a contract/temporary position covering 35 hours per week at a rate of $20/hour.
