Technology Marketing Analyst, Senior
The Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) has a unique opportunity available for a Technology Marketing Analyst. This position collaborates with Technology Transfer Licensing Officers and the Associate Vice President of Technology Transfer to help meet the office’s overall goals by maintaining and strengthening the interactions between university investigators and OTT staff. The Technology Marketing Analyst will market OTT services internally to UMB departments and investigators. The Technology Marketing Analyst, as part of an interdisciplinary team, will develop and plan marketing programs to increase OTT’s ability to capture, protect, and commercialize UMB's intellectual and tangible research property.

Work directly with OTT’s Licensing Officers to maintain, build and grow relationships with UMB investigators and OTT.

Develop and coordinate new marketing and outreach opportunities.

Create impactful, non-confidential marketing materials (e.g., brochures, websites, flyers, graphics, posters, marketing sheets) by:

Reviewing, understanding, and summarizing inventions disclosed to OTT.

Evaluating the market potential of UMB inventions by researching competitive aspects of the target market (e.g., size, dynamics, barriers to entry, unmet needs, etc.).

Articulating UMB invention utility and competitive position.

Compile and keep updated the portfolio of UMB technologies, facilities, and expertise.

Maintain and update OTT’s website.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: A Master of Business Administration with experience in biotechnology or related field, or an advanced degree in life science with a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field, or a doctorate (PhD) in biology, biotechnology, or related field and an undergraduate degree in business.
Experience: Three years of university-based technology transfer or industry (pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotechnology) based marketing or business development experience.
Preferred Experience: Experience working within the research environment at a major university, institute, or private industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills needed to help the office build and maintain long-term relationships with UMB’s multiple professional schools and departments and various stakeholders.

Experience building marketing and outreach programs needed to drive awareness of OTT, increase interactions with researchers and identify clients. Technical background to understand medical terminology and complex life science-based technologies and summarize it into clear marketing materials.
