SENIOR IT MANAGER, Economics, to lead a team which supports all aspects of computing for a research-focused academic department. This role is 20% management/leadership and 80% technical with a focus on Linux-based infrastructure and research computing. Will provide leadership, project planning, and architectural direction; identify and execute cost-effective technology solutions; mentor and manage IT team members, including goal setting and annual reviews; design/implement processes and procedures based on industry best practices; act as team’s primary technical resource for Linux systems administration and research computing support; and understand faculty and student needs, providing a comprehensive research computing platform as well as guidance on the effective utilization of mathematical and statistical software, including MATLAB, Stata, R, SAS, etc.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; at least seven years’ relevant experience; experience managing an IT function, including staff; strong technical background including demonstrated proficiency with Linux systems administration (RHEL/CentOS) and configuration management (Puppet), HPC workload management, AWS or other IaaS platforms, VMware vSphere, and Git; solid scripting/coding skills; desire to learn new technologies; and excellent oral and written communication skills. Seek someone who is customer-focused with excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Additional preferred technical skills include Windows administration, Hadoop/Spark, database administration (MySQL), PHP web development, and storage administration (NetApp).
