Department Summary
Services for Student-Athletes provides comprehensive academic support to more than 500 student-athletes attending the University of Oregon. The department is open 7 days a week providing services such as class scheduling and advising, advanced learning assistance for under prepared and disabled learners, tutor appointments, Math and Science lab, quiet study tables and computer labs with Internet, printing and scanning services.
Position Summary
The Information Technology Consultant provides direct consultative support and training to students, staff, and administrators on information technology-based systems, primarily in the areas of applications software, multimedia, database resources, and network support.
This position works as part of an information technology team and provides direct consultative support and training to students, staff, and administrators on information technology-based systems, primarily in the areas of applications software, multimedia, database resources, and network support.
This position will need to adhere to all rules and regulations of the University of Oregon, Services for Student Athletes, and the NCAA.
This position will work closely with the Executive Director of Services for Student Athletes and the IT Consultant 3. In addition, close working relationships are needed with student athlete development and other athletic department personnel.
In consultation with the Director and other Services for Student Athlete staff, this position will maintain, develop, and coordinate the use of web based programs. Decisions include how online programs are developed and used to manage, maintain, and schedule student athlete study hall reports and assignments. Decisions will also be made about the maintenance and distribution of some 600+ computers on site, as well as coordinating and scheduling other IT specialists reporting to this position.
Minimum Requirements
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.
Professional Competencies
• Broad knowledge of multiple software and instructional/media technology applications, database systems and sources, and equipment types.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
