Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School in Saratoga, California  is excited to announce our search for a collaborative, dynamic, and visionary Technology Teacher & Instructional Technologist to join our team of diverse educators in the heart of Silicon Valley. While Saint Andrew’s has a long history of integrating technology in the classroom we are working to evolve and innovate our program. The candidate will work closely with our Director of Educational Technology on designing  and implementing a new, sequential, multi-age K-8 technology curriculum. The goal of this initiative is to develop a solid base of Digital Media and Technology literacy in all our students while also preparing them for the future of emerging fields such as AI, Big Data, Cyber Security, Robotics, and VR/AR. In addition to teaching technology classes, the role will help to design and implement a strategic plan for supporting teachers in the innovative use of technology within their own classrooms.     

 

The ideal candidate is a teacher with a dynamic personality, excellent interpersonal skills, superior technology aptitude, and a self starter with experience in curriculum development and teacher coaching. They will possess exceptional patience in working with people of all ages on learning to successfully use technology solutions. They will take a customer first service minded approach all the while expressing a positive and supportive attitude.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching Credential and/or 2 years teaching experience, ideally in a K-8 school
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in one or more of the following areas: Computer Science, Information Technology, Art’s Media and Entertainment or related fields.
  • CTE single subjects designated subject area credential in Information & Communication Technology, Arts Media & Entertainment, Engineering & Architecture, or Manufacturing & Product Development.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:

  • Apple hardware/software, including iPads and MacBooks
  • 1:1 educational technology classroom environments
  • Google Apps for Education and Microsoft Office suite
  • Powerschool SIS and PowerSchool Unified Classroom LMS
  • LEGO WeDo 2.0 and EV3 Educational robotics kits.
  • Common Sense Media and ITSE Standards
  • Audio/Visual, multimedia, video production/animation equipment, hardware and software.
  • Code/App development, Video Game Design
  • Nearpod, Brainpop, Quizlet, etc.

 

Technology Teaching Responsibilities

  • Creating an inclusive, welcoming, learning-motivated classroom environment where student voice is celebrated and the specific learning needs and social and emotional development of each student is addressed
  • Facilitate age appropriate and challenging exploratory, investigative, and direct instructional opportunities that incorporate a range of instructional modalities
  • Lead an advisory group of approximately 12-14 students, providing instruction in social-emotional learning as well as character and wellness education
  • Attend and collaborate in the organization for annual overnight educational trips.

 

Instructional Technologist Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for technology to enhance teaching and student learning
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop technology integrated curricula and activities
  • Provide resources and professional development to teachers for integrating technology
  • Assist students with technology and information intensive projects
  • Coordinate Digital Citizenship curriculum based upon Common Sense Media
  • Provide parent education opportunities regarding technology and related ethics and safety for students
  • Collaborate on the development of a PK-8 information technology scope and sequence following the ISTE NETS using a variety of industry-standard, developmentally appropriate applications

 

Community Responsibilities

  • Active collaboration with classroom and specialist teachers to develop curriculum, plan trips, interdisciplinary learning opportunities, and special projects.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding curriculum, student progress, and course placements.
  • Be a positive and contributing member of the school community.
  • Supervise students in other roles such as recess, lunch, field trips, etc. as assigned
  • Participate actively in department, grade-level team, division, and faculty meetings as scheduled.
  • Pursue relevant opportunities for professional growth and development. 
  • Collaborate with departmental colleagues on the ordering of instructional materials, course placements, curriculum development, etc.
