The Hun School of Princeton is seeking an experienced and versatile Educational Technology Designer to facilitate the integration of technology into the school’s curriculum and activities. The Educational Technology Designer will also be responsible for teaching two classes in the Computer Science and Technology Department. This position reports to the Dean of Faculty, in conjunction with the Director of Technology and the Computer Science and Technology Department Chair. This position provides leadership in developing, modeling, and evaluating technology uses in education, works closely with the Dean of Faculty and Division Heads to support classroom innovation and technology integration while also teaching two Computer Science classes each semester.

The Educational Technology Designer will demonstrate and exercise leadership in the following areas:

  • Recommending and implementing pedagogical best practices that balance the benefits of innovation while remaining consistent with the School’s objectives, mission, and strategic plan;
  • In conjunction with the Dean of Faculty, Division Heads and the Director of Technology, developing and providing faculty and student support for instructional technology in an iPad 1-to-1 environment;
  • Participating in the design, coordination, and provision of instructional technology workshops and materials, and researching and/or providing individual training opportunities for teachers to ensure the best use of technology;
  • Understanding and promoting the use of information and communications technologies to support differentiated learning and individual learning styles both within the school and in the regional and national professional community.

This is a position that requires excellent skills in clear communication, interpersonal exchanges with colleagues, managing expectations, tact, patience and a service-oriented attitude.  A good strategic sense, sound technological judgment, and exceptional interpersonal skills are all important to the success of the Educational Technology Designer.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, Education, Business, or related field.  Ideally with a Masters or a combination of education and work experience in a relevant field;
  • Significant technology related leadership experience in an organization that uses primarily Macs (but also some PCs), preferably in an educational or non-profit institution;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using MacOS, the Google Apps for Education, Microsoft Office, and Learning Management Systems;
  • Agility to be self-directed, handle multiple tasks and priorities, solve problems and demonstrate leadership skills within a collaborative environment;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Personal qualities including resilience, approachability, and kindness;
  • Must pass a State of New Jersey criminal background check and be fingerprinted.

This position is a ten-month (10) position, exempt from overtime, and eligible for all benefits afforded to full-time Hun School employees. There will be an expectation that the Educational Technology Designer will also offer summer training and workshops for faculty for an additional stipend.  The working environment is an office and school environment on a hilly 45-acre campus in Princeton, New Jersey. The abilities to occasionally lift files and storage boxes, walk up and down stairs, attend meetings in varying locations throughout campus, and continually use computers and related office equipment are required. Not all buildings on campus have elevators.
